Elsewhere, it’s potentially bad news for John as Aidan Moore opened his eyes! Here’s a rundown of what happened in Emmerdale, Tuesday May 20. Aidan woke up from his coma (Credit: ITV) Aidan Moore opened his eyes At the hospital, John Sugden continued to be there for Victoria and Harry. As she thanked him for looking after her, John looked incredibly guilty. And so he should, given he’s the one to blame for the slurry leak which put Harry in hospital. In case things weren’t bad enough for John, he then bumped into Aidan’s mum Cathleen. She told John the hospital had called her as they had news on Aidan. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers Cathleen asked John to go with her incase it’s bad news, but he was reluctant and informed her he had to go see his nephew who’d been admitted for drinking the contaminated water. As John sat by Harry’s bed, Cathleen was along the hall by Aidan’s bed. She informed him that doctors had called her as he had moved a finger. She then mentioned that John was in the hospital and would be coming to visit him. At the mention of John’s name, Aidan’s eyes shot open. Vanessa attended the appointment with Sarah (Credit: ITV) Sarah is still determined to have a baby Vanessa offered to go with Sarah to her appointment at the IVF clinic, so that she can continue with her dream of having a baby. However, the doctor at the clinic was not very reassuring and told Sarah that it will be hard for her to get pregnant with her medical history. The doctor reiterated the fact that “people with Fanconi anaemia are unlikely to be able to conceive”. Sarah was not deterred though and said she has done research so knows it’s possible. Vanessa also got involved and told the doctor that Sarah has a big support network. The doctor was still reluctant and continued to deliver bad news, telling Sarah that even if she could carry a baby to full term, with her condition even with medical advances, Fanconi anaemia will impact her life expectancy. Sarah argued that no one knows how long they have left. But the doctor wanted Sarah to understand the ramifications of bringing a baby into the world “when it’s quite possible that you’re not gonna be around to see them grow into adulthood“. The doctor also mentioned the cost of IVF, but once again, Sarah was not put off. Eventually the doctor agreed to Sarah coming back the following day for a full physical exam. But will it go well? Moira’s meeting with Lewis didn’t go well (Credit: ITV) Moira met Lewis in Emmerdale Lewis was determined to meet Moira, no matter that Moira had a lot on her plate. Lewis told Moira that he had heard about the slurry leak and knew his timing could be better… but decided to turn up anyway. He didn’t hold back on his thoughts and bluntly told Moira: “It can’t be that fine, knowing your son killed her,” in reference to his mum Emma Barton. Moira constantly looked like she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. When Lewis was out of the room, Ross told her that Lewis is autistic, “so I don’t think subtle social niceties are high on his agenda.” As Lewis continues to probe about Adam killing Emma, Moira just about managed to hold it together and told Lewis that Adam was just trying to protect her. Viewers are aware that it was actually Moira who killed Emma, but they’re determined to keep this from Lewis. When Ross told Lewis it was time to leave, Lewis became agitated and said he had lots more questions. He then shouted “I can’t ask Emma, can I?” After he had left, Moira broke down. Will she be able to keep the truth from Lewis? Mack feels guilty (Credit: ITV) Mack continued to be public enemy number 1 As the village continued to cope without a water supply, Mack was the target of much anger – mainly from Nicola. Mack is unaware that the slurry leak was due to tampering from John, so has taken responsibility for the accident. As he continued to feel guilty, he mentioned to Cain that “John was reassuring and he didn’t need to be.” As he said he is grateful that Harry is over the worse, he couldn’t help but worry incase anyone else gets sick. Meanwhile, Nicola ranted at Charity in the cafe about her “dimwit husband” – pot and kettle, Nicola. Charity defended Mack and told Nicola that Mack feels really bad and she’s actually really worried about him. Nicola didn’t show any sympathy though, and instead continued to try get through to the council, who she felt owed her for the hours she had spent in boring meetings. She told Vanessa that they owed her an MBE “let alone basic sanitation rights.” There was more bad news for Mack when Moira was informed that the insurance company will not be paying out “on the grounds that the slurry leak went beyond the bounds of our farm. I mean, that’s the thing about leaks – they leak! They don’t respect boundaries do they?” she ranted. Belle came to Tracy’s rescue (Credit: ITV) Elsewhere in Emmerdale In the shop, due to the lack of a water supply, Tracy was buying bottles of water. She mentioned that she didn’t budget for that, just before the credit card was declined. As she told Eric that she must have maxed it out, Belle overheard and asked if Nate was still MIA. Feeling sorry for Tracy, Belle offered to pay for Tracy’s shopping. In the pub later, Charity and Belle continued to reassure Tracy that she is a good mum. Read more: Who’s leaving Emmerdale?
