Harry Wild is a new crime series starring Jane Seymour coming to U&Drama and it sees the English treasure playing an interfering mother…for good reason.

Jane takes on the role of newly-retired English professor Harriett ‘Harry’ Wild who just can’t help but meddle in the cases assigned to her police detective son.

But it turns out, Harry has a real knack for sniffing out the missing clues needed to solve major crimes.

Harry’s sidekick throughout the series is a bizarre choice; a tearaway teen who mugged her. Yet together, they make an unlikely but very successful detective duo.

Here, we take a deep dive into Harry Wild on U&Drama, including cast, how many episodes and start date.

Harry Wild on U&Drama: What is it about?

The drama begins in a pub at Harriet Wild’s retirement party in Ireland. When asked what she’s going to now spend her days doing, the English professor, known as Harry, replies: “Sort out the attic, do some gardening..” But how wrong she is!

Harry finds herself moving in with her police officer son Charlie for a few days after she’s left severely shaken by a mugging. While recuperating, she can’t help but have a delve into one of his murder cases. Charlie isn’t open to hearing any of it, but Harry’s attention to detail means she quickly pinpoints the killer.

As punishment for his crime, Harry drags her mugger – who she’s since learned is a senior school pupil called Fergus Reid – along for the ride. It turns out, when put together, the quirky pair are cracking detectives so they form the Wild/Reid Detective Agency.

Throughout Harry Wild, they will face the suspicious death of a boy band star, a kidnapping case and a serial killer. They even investigate the case of a strange vomiting bug at a dinner party which, as it turns out, is linked to a body in a well. Nice!

Cast of Harry Wild

Jane Seymour leads the cast of Harry Wild. She plays sharp-witted Harriet ‘Harry’ Wild, a retired English professor-turned- sleuth.

Jane, 74, is best known as Bond girl Solitaire from the 1973 James Bond film, Live and Let Die. She also took the lead in popular 90s American western series, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.

Her acting career is a long and successful one, with her mantelpiece home to two Golden Globes and a Primetime Emmy Award. Jane scooped the gongs for her roles in East of Eden and Onassis: The Richest Man in the World.

Jane’s on-screen son, Charlie Wild, is portrayed by Kevin Ryan. The Irish actor, 41, is famed for his role in BBC American detective drama series, Copper. He has also appeared in NBC action-drama Crossbones, and played historical military officer John Pitcairn in the History Channel show, Son of Liberty.

Although Rohan Nedd is cast as wild teen Fergus Reid in Harry Wild, he is actually 30 years old! The series was definitely not his first rodeo, with credits in Netflix‘s Safe and cosy crime, Whitstable Pearl. He’s also had guest roles in Doctor Who, Doctors and Midsomer Murders.

Irish stars Danielle Ryan, known for Magpie Murders, and Paul Tylak – from Channel 5’s The Drowning – are also among the cast. They’re joined by Rose O’Neill, Anthony Delaney and Amy Huberman.

Where was Harry Wild filmed?

The first series of Harry Wild was shot in and around Dublin in Ireland. At the time, Jane said: “We went to some beautiful country houses, one place was [author] Selina Guinness’ home, really bizarre and eclectic and strange and really weird.”

Jane added: “While I was filming, I got to meet just wonderful people in all these different places.”

Locations for the follow up series’ included Brennan’s Kilteel Inn, Main Street and Kilteel in County Kildare.
