As Abi finds out huge Carl and James cheating secret, she plots her revenge in Coronation Street spoilers
Abi wants to make Carl pay
In tonight’s episode of Coronation Street (Friday, December 26), Abi found out that Carl had been cheating on her with James.
When Carl was asleep, Abi found her chance to check his phone for anything dodgy.
But, when she did start snooping, she found much more than she’d bargained for. Ouch.

Abi’s suspicions grew in Coronation Street
This evening on the cobbles, Carl bumped into James and warned him not to tell Abi about their secret bunk ups. He would tell her after Christmas, so as not to dampen the festive mood. Right. Because there’s definitely a right time to tell your partner you’ve been cheating on them. Although… Abi can completely relate to Carl’s predicament.
Meanwhile, Tracy got into Abi’s head that Carl was definitely up to something. She was looking out for her as a valuable (and self-proclaimed) of the sisterhood.
James confronted Carl about his flippant way of wanting him and then dropping him, with Carl then turning on the waterworks and revealing that his head was all over the place because his mum had died. This shut James up for the time being.
Back at the flat, Carl kipped on Abi while she made a huge excuse to check his phone. She quickly woke Carl up to as him to pop in his phone passcode so that she could ‘change the music…’ A valid reason. There are only so many cheesy Christmas songs one can take in one go!

One could say that Karma comes right back around, and it’s hit Abi right in the face in this case. It’s not nice being cheated on, is it Abi?! Just ask Kev.
Instead of changing the music, Abi decided to snoop through Carl’s texts instead. She then found a very interesting conversation with James that exposed his whole secret affair.
Abi had previously thanked James for stopping Carl from going through with a car scam, but she now found out that this was just a cover story for their secret fling.
Shocked that Carl had already slept with James three times this week alone, her cogs were whirring…

Abi plots her revenge in Coronation Street spoilers
In Coronation Street spoilers for next week, Abi confides in Tracy about Carl’s infidelity and plots her revenge.
Abi tells Carl she’s just popping out for some shopping, but once she’s alone with Tracy, the nerves hit hard. She’s convinced her relationship is teetering on the edge.
Things get even more tense when she spots a bag stuffed with cash in Carl’s car boot. Heart pounding, she grabs it… only to arrive at the hotel and discover it’s vanished. Spotting Kevin outside, she blurts out her suspicions that Carl’s planning a sneaky getaway. Kevin is far from impressed.
As he prepares to make his speech for Debbie, everyone holds their breath. What’s Carl really up to, and can he talk his way out of this one?
The Couple Next Door series 2: The biggest complaints about 'trashy' Channel 4 thriller
The sexy thriller returned this week (Monday, July 14, 2025) with a new cast, new plot, and a new unpredictable villain. Although the deadly cul-de-sac was the same - along with two familiar faces - the returning drama was a standalone series.
This time around, there's a new set of frisky neighbours whose idyllic lives go seriously pear-shaped after the arrival of a sexy new nurse. Heart surgeon Charlotte and her husband Jacob, a consultant anaesthetist, risk their marriage when they welcome Mia into their lives...
So is it "brilliant" or is it "tosh"? Here's the verdict on The Couple Next Door series 2, along with the plot-holes called out by the viewers.

Viewers point out biggest plot-holes in The Couple Next Door series 2
The Couple Next Door series 2 is the thriller many of us were looking forward to. With Vicky McClure's Insomnia finishing on Wednesday night (July 16), the Channel 4 drama looked like our next juicy bone. But many viewers have been left disappointed.
While some called out the inconsistencies and flaws in the series, others just branded the whole thing unwatchable.
One disgruntled viewer wrote: "This is woeful shite. Just as bad as the first series, even allowing for the titillating scenes which are just plain embarrassing. #thecouplenextdoor."
Another said: "Just watched the first two episodes of series 2,. Its dreadful, unbelievable storyline is ridiculous. After a first really good series this was a disappointment. #thecouplenextdoor."
A third added: "Five percent authentic story and ninety five percent gratuitous sex . A waste of time and energy. #TheCoupleNextdoor."
"This is like someone who's in a coma, in the hospital, is dreaming it all," said another. Well if Dallas got away with it...?
Others simply called it "crap", "tosh", and "unbelievable".
In its defence, TV thrillers are rarely grounded in reality!
Biggest complaints about the Annabel Scholey drama
Some viewers pick holes in the plot, including the location, and plausibility of the characters.
Referencing the rota of the doctors and nurses in the TV series, one baffled viewer said on X: "Out of a lot of unbelievable things, the most unbelievable thing is how these NHS staff are home before dark and get lunch breaks."
Others simply disliked most of the characters, typing: "Anyone else pulling for the bunny boiler nurse to kill the surgeon's family plus all the neighbours and most of the hospital staff as well . What a obnoxious bunch."
Meanwhile, others questioned Mia's friendliness, writing: "Yeah, sexy young new neighbour wants a coffee with the creepy guy picking up litter in the park #TheCoupleNextdoor."

Location of The Couple Next Door series 2 is clearly NOT Leeds!
Many of those watching from home could not get past the location of the thriller. Although the series is set in Leeds, and much of the drama centres around Leeds hospital, it was actually filmed in another country altogether - Belgium!
Well, at least, the romantic scenes in Antwerp were authentic.
One viewer blasted: "Started watching #TheCoupleNextDoor and it's so ridiculous. I can't decide whether to carry on for the laughs or not waste my time. Clearly no one involved in the production has ever visited Leeds."
Another said: "How many houses in Leeds look like that?! Least believable bit about the whole show to me."
A third fumed: "How are you supposed to have any credibility with your audience when your Leeds TV series is clearly set in Belgium?"
"The Couple Next Door is beautifully written, but finding the street so distracting?!" said another. "I cannot suspend disbelief that this estate exists in Leeds?!"
Others chimed in with: "The Couple Next Door is definitely not filmed in Leeds. Ridiculous how they try and keep the act up throughout, clearly filmed in Europe somewhere."
"That estate doesn't look remotely like Leeds."
"I think they'd have been better setting the whole thing in Holland instead of all this pretend Leeds stuff. It's very distracting. #TheCoupleNextDoor."
"Why on earth did they choose that twee European housing development to be a Leeds suburb? Putting a Leeds City Council sticker on Alan's wheelie bin doesn't make the ridiculous choice of location any more convincing. #TheCoupleNextDoor."
Channel 4 thriller is a 'masterpiece'
The series has plenty of fans, too, though. And some have already binged the series to its climatic ending.
One fan enthused: "This is so bad, it’s brilliant #TheCoupleNextdoor."
Another said: "Holy f*** The Couple Next Door season 2 is seriously good!"
A third added: "The Couple Next Door is so trashy… And yet I can't seem to stop watching."
"Season 2 is gooood," agreed another, "I can't stop watching atp."
Lastly, one more gushed: "Just finished #TheCoupleNextDoor Season 2 and I'm OBSESSED. Mia is more seductive and manipulative than ever - she plays everyone like a violin, and I'm HERE for it. Charlotte's unraveling? Perfection. The tension, the mind games, the chemistry between them? Unmatched."
Others called it "brilliant", and "a masterpiece".
