Britain’s Got Talent returned this week as a batch of new hopefuls attempted to impress the judges, but for Christy Coysh and his scotch egg song, he ended up leaving them baffled instead.

Contestants will be hoping they’ll receive one of the Golden Buzzers that gives them an automatic spot in the live semi-finals. If they don’t achieve that goal, they’ll be praying to get enough yeses to proceed to the next round.

The auditions were in top form tonight, (Saturday, April 11), as we saw the Glantaff Boys choir, Rebecca Ryan, Darren Tait, James Phelan, Tracy Graham, dance group World Wings, Simon Ratzker and Joan Thomas. We also saw KSI get roasted by Ren DMC, comedian Christy Coysh and 12-year-old Juan Carlos.

It was Christy Coysh’s scotch egg song that had the audience and judges laughing, as well as a place in the next round.

Christy Coysh’s scotch egg song confuses the judges

Christy Coysh, who has gained fame on TikTok for his hilarious songs chose to sing an original song about a scotch egg. Members of the audience were cheering as the judges started singing along – it was catchy!

From the start of his performance, the judges were baffled at what was going on. YouTuber KSI didn’t understand the funny rendition and gave him a red buzzer. When he admitted later that he didn’t like scotch eggs he was met with boo’s from the audience.

“Wasn’t expecting that,” Alesha Dixon revealed after.

“I don’t think anyone was,” the 35-year-old joked back.

Simon Cowell called it “terrible” but “brilliant”, and KSI refused to give Christy a ‘yes’ as he didn’t ‘get it’. Despite the negative feedback from KSI, Christy went through to the next round.

KSI asked the panel what was going on before Alesha advised him that he’ll need a couple of ‘more seasons’ under his belt to understand the madness of the show.

Simon then revealed that Alesha would ask him why he would send certain acts through when they were weird and quirky. His answer? That the madness takes over after doing the competition series for a number of years!

“What the hell was that?”

Fans were divided over Christy’s performance, considering it opened up the show.

“What the hell was that bloody scotch egg thing,” one asked.

“Really? Not one of the judges have seen this fella all over social media?” asked a second.

“Get this scotch egg fella to the final please,” begged a third.

“When you think he’s going to be the next Paul Potts and then he pulls out a scotch egg,” someone else joked.

While someone else moaned during Ren DMC’s performance after: “Sorry but this rap is absolutely cringe. I preferred Mr Scotch Egg fella.”

Not all were convinced though: “How the hell did that guy get 3 yeses?”
