Emmerdale fans were thrilled tonight when former couple Vanessa and Charity, aka Vanity, shared a kiss – but some shared their concerns.
Back in the day, Vanity were a fan-favourite couple, with many viewers constantly campaigning for the two to be reunited.
Thursday’s episode saw them get their wish as Charity Dingle leaned in for a kiss. But some fans are worried about how the storyline will play out.
Vanessa and Charity shared a kiss in Emmerdale
During tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, Charity admitted to Sarah that she’d had a fall while out in the woods, which could have brought on the bleeding.
Sarah was furious at her gran for not being careful despite knowing how much a baby means to her. Charity soon confided in Mack that she felt guilty for letting Sarah down.
In true Mack fashion, though, he said the wrong thing and told Charity that it might be for the best as everything happens for a reason. Charity couldn’t believe what she was hearing and went mad at her hubby.
“You’re relieved, aren’t you? You’re pleased that I have lost Sarah’s embryo,” she screamed at Mack, before ordering him out of the house.
Later, Charity decided to drown her sorrows with a bottle of wine in the Woolpack. Vanessa Woodfield came across her ex and invited her back to hers.
Back at Vanessa’s, Charity carried on drinking as she opened up to Vanessa about her guilt over Sarah and the argument with Mack. Charity told Vanessa that she had seen a different side to Mack and didn’t like it, before telling her former lover: “I was a fool to let you go for him.”
As the two continued to chat, Charity said she couldn’t face going home. Vanessa offered to make up Tracy’s bed for her to stay in. But Charity said she’d only stay in there if Vanessa came with her. Charity then leaned in for a kiss with Vanessa not pulling away. What does this mean for the future?
Emmerdale fans share Vanity reunion concerns
This moment has been a long time coming and fans are thrilled – with one literally counting down the days. Writing on X, they said: “1,742 days I’ve waited for this moment VANITY ARE SO BACK.”
However, some viewers have concerns about the reunion and how the story will be handled.
Writing on X, one fan said: “Going to need #Vanity tho to still explore so much if this is going to be done right & not just for views ect tbh. So much has happened & I love them, but to be able to survive again it needs to be done right. Not sure I trust #Emmerdale to do that yet, but always hoping.”
A second fan expressed concern over how this kiss has come about, writing: “I’m sorry but I’m happy for vanity and I’m not. I wanted them back but not in this way, again, with cheating, with lying, with charity who said she loves Mack one week ago.. Vanessa who always hated cheating and now she is on it.”
Another fan agreed, writing: “Probably an unpopular opinion but I don’t like how Emmerdale have brought Vanity back together. I loved them together and I’d love for them to be back together, but I don’t know, it’s not how I expected them to address it.”
