Carl Webster is preparing to leave Abi and move back to Germany in Coronation Street, and she has no idea.

Tonight’s episode (Friday, November 21) saw him make a phone call to arrange a flight. He then revealed that he’d be travelling alone.

But, what does this mean for Carl? And, is Jonathan Howard leaving the soap? We have answers!

Carl Webster plotted to leave Abi in Coronation Street

Carl Webster has started to realise that his relationship with Abi is more than just a bit of fun. With Abi literally abandoning her marriage to Kevin so that she could be with Carl, Carl’s now been lumbered with both Abi and her son Alfie. And, he’s not quite the father material.

Tonight, it became clear that responsibility wasn’t what he’d signed up for, and the thought alone had him sweating more than a pint in the Rovers on quiz night.

Things got even more awkward when Abi ditched the idea of a steamy night in with Carl so she could be there for Alfie. That was the moment Carl’s panic button went off. His fight?or?flight mode kicked in, and let’s just say he wasn’t choosing ‘fight.’ Instead, he reached for his phone and started plotting a solo getaway back to Germany. The airlines might want to keep a seat warm.

Meanwhile, Abi remained blissfully unaware of Carl’s escape plans. She’s still there believing that she and Carl can really stand the test of time. She believed that about Kevin once too… But, will Abi realise Carl’s plan before he swaps her for bratwurst and Berlin nightlife?

Jonathan Howard’s acting role away from Coronation Street revealed

It appears that Carl’s not quite ready to leave the cobbles after all as spoilers for next week reveal that he’s still very much in Weatherfield causing chaos.

Next week he’s up to no good, making it appear as though Debbie’s forgotten to pay Tracy’s invoice despite marking it as ‘paid’ himself.

Debbie’s then left worrying that her dementia symptoms are getting worse.

There has also been no official confirmation that Jonathan Howard is leaving the soap, meaning that it’s likely that Carl has a change of heart.

Corrie isn’t the only acting role Jonathan’s got in the works though. He’s filmed scenes for a horror movie called The Dreadful as Brother Penros. This film is currently in post-production.
