For months, fans have been wondering who the gunman from the New Year flash-forward could be.
But after spotting clues about Cindy’s wedding, many are now believing it could be her.
What do we know about the flash-forward gunman?
At the beginning of the year, EastEnders aired a dramatic flash-forward.
The soap flashed to one year later – New Year’s Day 2027. Viewers got a glimpse of what would happen on that day, and none of it looked good for Max Branning.
Included in the sequence was a shocking gunman showdown. It featured a masked, leather-gloved gunman taking Max’s children, Lauren and Oscar.
They were being held hostage, while the gunman informed Max the decision is his as to which one lives or dies.
Ever since that moment, fans have been desperate to work out exactly who is about to pull the trigger. And while there have been many theories so far, some fans think recent episodes point to Cindy.
EastEnders fans fear ‘clues’ point to Cindy
Taking to a Reddit thread, fans discussed the possibility that Cindy could be the one in the flash-forward.
One proposed: “Is it just me that can tell Cindy is the New Year’s gunman? The way she is pushing to get married as soon as possible. It’s like she is planning something.”
Another fan quickly agreed, adding: “OMG. Yes. Maybe because she blames Max for Steven’s death. And also, he slept with her daughter, Lucy. So then she’s turned the tables and is saying to him to choose out of his own children!?”
A third wrote: “Cindy has genuine motive. She would feel completely humiliated by him.”
However, some agree that Cindy could be behind it, but that she actually wouldn’t do it herself – as she doesn’t want to get her hands dirty.
A fan added: “I don’t think she’s the literal gunman. But I think she’s hired them. She has form.”
“I could see her hiring a gunman because she’s impulsive. Then she might try to call it off last minute and be too late” another commented.
Who is holding the gun remains to be seen. And unfortunately for EastEnders fans, it could still be quite some time before we have all of the answers. However, we’re sure it won’t disappoint!
