For a while, EastEnders fans have been wondering exactly what happened to Joel. And after numerous theories, we finally have our answer.
But while Amy made the shock confession on-screen tonight (Thursday August 13), things are going to get even more complicated.
Who attacked Joel? And why?
Last month, the teens took revenge on Joel by locking him to a railing and throwing beer at him. However, things took a turn when someone hit him over the head with a hammer.
Earlier this week, Lily eventually admitted she unlocked him from the railing – and she saw Denzel sneaking off somewhere. But Avani quickly jumped to his defence, confessing they were together – leaving Amy furious.
Tonight, Ricky suggested Nugget could be responsible. However, when he suggested Amy was still a potential suspect, she got extremely defensive.
Instead of confiding in her dad, Amy decided to speak to Craig about everything that happened. They had a chat off the record – which turned into a huge confession.
Amy admitted that not only was it her idea to tie Joel up, but there was also more to the story that she has been hiding.
She explained: “I went back. Lily had unlocked him. He was mocking me, trying to get in my head. So, I grabbed the hammer. It was me. I hit him.”
With the shock confession sitting with Craig, things don’t go his way next week in EastEnders.

EastEnders spoilers for next week reveal that Amy is conflicted after her recent admission, and struggles to deal with what she has done.
But as she panics, Craig is called into the police station. It’s revealed that he has been suspended from duty and taken off the Joel case after a formal complaint had been made against him.
Exactly what this complaint is remains to be seen, but the situation doesn’t stop him from getting closer to Amy.
After Vicky hears Amy having a go at Joel, she tells her off. Feeling overwhelmed, Amy heads to meet Craig, who vows to be there for her.
With fans growing concerned of how close Craig and Amy are getting, could things be heading in a very sinister direction?
