Joel woke up after his attack

At the end of the episode, Barney met up with Harry and begged him to help him dispose of the weapon. But, did he attack Joel?

Joel survived the attack in EastEnders iPlayer release
After discovering Joel lying unconscious on the floor after being attacked, the Walford teens panicked that he might be dead.
Amy told everyone not to touch him as it would tamper with the evidence when the police came. Avani didn’t listen to this though and touched Joel’s head.
She soon realised that his head was bleeding, with Denzel then checking to make sure that he was alive. He was, fortunately.
The police soon showed up as a panicked Avani explained who Joel was and how they’d just discovered him like that.
The group were then taken to the station to give their witness statements as their parents joined them. Avani agreed to hand over her jacket and have the blood on her hands examined by forensics.
Meanwhile, Ross sat by Joel’s side at the hospital as Joel woke up and wondered where he was.

Barney asks for Harry’s help as his innocence in questioned
In the garage, the group of teens gathered to reconvene after their witness statements. Before they could say much, Harry burst in and wondered why the light was on.
He encouraged them to scarper back to their homes, reminding them that it wasn’t a good idea for them all to be together right now.
Once everyone bar Barney had gone, a twist played out. Harry was seen uncovering a hammer that Barney had asked him to fetch for him.
As Barney cried, Harry then demanded that he told him what he’d done.
This made it look as though Barney was the one to attack Joel. He’d been rather quiet during the whole Joel discovery and had stood back from the rest of the group. Was this because he was hiding a guilty secret?
But, then again, Barney seemed too scared to even participate in the initial tying up of Joel in the first place. So, it would seem like a bit of a stretch to go from this to doing his head in with a weapon.
Could it be that Barney Mitchell had helped someone cover their tracks instead? Or, is he the true culprit? And will Joel remember who attacked him now that he’s awake?
