EastEnders fans fear Joel is dead after shocking BBC iPlayer twist
The Walford teens wanted revenge
EastEnders today on iPlayer (Wednesday, July 22), saw Joel Marshall get attacked and left for dead after the Walford teens plotted against him.
Avani and Amy invited Joel to a party, telling him that they wanted to move on from everything he’d put them through.
But, they secretly had another plan and decided to teach Joel a lesson.

Avani and Amy plotted against Joel in EastEnders iPlayer release
Today in Walford, Avani and Amy arranged a get together in the park with their friends. Amy spoke to Lily and was concerned where her loyalties lay. But, she managed to find out some important information about Joel’s time in young offenders.
The teens then decided that they’d invite Joel to their party, secretly plotting their revenge against him.
Amy and Lily were the ones to ask Joel to come, with Amy telling him that they just wanted to restore some peace. Joel agreed after being reassured that it wasn’t a set up.
Initially, the party seemed to be chill. Avani approached Joel and made it clear that they would never be friends.
But, she then handed him a drink and told him that she was willing to draw a line under everything.
Joel then tried to apologise, but Avani was furious to learn that he was looking at moving into a flat in Walford. She then rushed off with Amy to continue with their plan.

Joel attacked and left for dead
Teens Amy, Avani, Nugget, Denzel, Lily, Ricky and Barney all gathered as they tried to teach Joel a lesson.
Joel was pinned down and tied to an outhouse as the teens poured liquid all over him while filming him. Avani stood back, clearly uncomfortable with the extent they’d gone to.
With the teens then gathering and continuing with their party, Avani and Denzel came trawling back after the others. Amy wanted to know where they’d been but they wouldn’t say.
Will rocked up and saw the video, worrying about how long Joel had been left tied up there ‘to reflect.’
As the teens headed back to release Joel after 45 minutes, he’d already been released from the restraints. Only the members of the group knew the combination so must’ve let him go.
Will then found Joel’s phone on the floor, with everyone frantically looking for where he could’ve gone to.
They all then found Joel nearby, lying unconscious on the floor, with a big head wound.
With Joel looking to be in a bad way, who went back to attack him further? And, is he dead?
EastEnders fans fear Joel is dead
Well, while Joel’s fate remains to be seen, EastEnders fans fear that he might be dead. This would mean that a murder investigation could be on the way, with each teen a potential suspect.
They really don’t want Joel to die as they believe that more needs to be done with the storyline.
One fan commented on X: “I really hope Joel isn’t dead. They need to give him a redemption arc imo. Showing that these young boys who have been groomed into being misogynistic losers can change and do deserve a second chance.”
Another agreed: “If Joel is dead I’m sad because Max Murray imo is one of the best young actors we’ve had on this show since Denny Jnr and the potential for a strong redemption arc is there. I’m still hoping this is an Aaron Monroe situation where he got attacked was in a coma and then survives.”
A third person also hoped for a redemption arc: “Barney is not a Mitchell though, stupid retcon making Zack his father, I hope Joel is not dead and stays around redeemed, good actor, this is out of character for Barney, he and his brother suffered because of Ravi and nothing was done.”
