Emmerdale star Casey Al-Shaqsy reveals exactly why Serena broke into Home Farm as she teases ‘loads’ of secrets still to come
Serena has a huge connection to DS RamsdenEmmerdale star Casey Al-Shaqsy has teased Serena Sugden’s future in the village, while confirming the character is hiding “loads” of secrets.
Not long ago, Serena Sugden appeared for the first time in Emmerdale, and it wasn’t long before fans grew suspicious that she was hiding something huge. Soon enough, we got confirmation that she used to be a police officer – and that she had a relationship with John.
But now that Serena has helped Charity and Sarah cover up Dr Todd’s murder, Emmerdale fans are desperate to trust her. However, speaking to Emmerdale Insider at a recent press event, Casey teased what’s ahead for her character.
Serena has been keeping a lot of secrets
When Casey was asked when fans may find out about Serena’s secrets, she exclaimed: “Which secret do you mean? She has loads!”
But one main secret Emmerdale fans want to know about is why Serena broke into Home Farm. And it seems she was doing that to help someone important to her.
Casey explained: “Her breaking into Home farm is something that’s important to someone close to her. So, that’s why she is doing it. She’s saying to someone ‘Right, I will do this for you’.
“She also believes – maybe naively – that they would do the same thing for her. She would bend the Earth for someone she cares about. So, that would be why.”
So, the big question is who is this person? Well, Emmerdale fans don’t have to wonder much longer as the person Serena’s been texting has now been revealed.
How does Serena know DS Ramsden?
Shockingly, the mysterious person Serena has been texting this whole time has been DS Ramsden. And they’re so close that Casey described them as “best friends”.
So, when Thea (DS Ramsden) heard Serena was heading to Emmerdale to meet her family, she asked her to do a huge favour, as she has something against the Tates.
Casey explained: “So whilst all the drama is happening, she is doing her own Serena things and looking out for somebody else, trying to get all this information for her.”
However, one thing Serena was unaware of was that Thea is the one investigating Dr Todd’s murder. So, when she showed up, things got complicated.
Casey continued: “When she shows up, it’s kind of like she’s ruining everything by being here. It wasn’t Serena’s choice to keep it a secret – it was hers. She’s saying that people can’t know who each other are. So Serena is trying her best to keep a secret that her friend wanted her to.”
So, with a whole new mystery now open about DS Ramsden’s connection to the Tates, Emmerdale fans can definitely expect some fireworks coming soon.
