Not long ago, reports surfaced that Nick Miles who has played the iconic character for 22 years will be leaving the soap this year. And the same reports suggested that Jimmy will die in explosive scenes.
While Emmerdale haven’t commented on the reports, recent episodes have been shining a light back on Jimmy and Nicola’s marriage. And some of the comments have even got fans wondering if the death is actually imminent.
Jimmy and Nicola have been looking to their future
This week, Jimmy and Nicola realised their marriage had hit a bit of a slump. And so, to solve this issue, Jimmy decided he would plan a date night. However, they hit another snag when he ended up just bringing Nicola to the pub.
When Jimmy asked Nicola where she wanted to go on their date, she suggested “heaven” which on it’s own isn’t completely foreshadowing a death. But knowing about the reports, and how nothing in soaps is ever a coincidence, it could mean something much bigger.
Later, Nicola found a necklace in Jimmy’s golf bag and immediately wondered who it was for. Not considering it could be for herself because Jimmy never surprises her, Nicola decided that he must be cheating on her.
But in tonight’s episode, Jimmy proves to Nicola how much he loves her – and only her – by revealing the necklace was him trying to make up for things. And reveals how he has even decided that in a few years he will take semi-retirement, so they can spend their lives together.
Fans fear Jimmy’s death is ‘very soon’
However, the sudden focus on their marriage, and Jimmy’s retirement plans is starting to make viewers wonder if it means his death is about to happen.
Taking to Reddit after watching tonight’s episode, one viewer shared their fears. They penned: “So just watched tonight’s episode. With Jimmy talking about semi retirement, his death must be so soon. The show has been really dropping quite a few clues over the last few eps that he’s about to die.”
Another agreed: “Yes, it’s gearing up for him to want to retire and play golf and spend time with Nico. It’s going to be so sad.”
On X, other fans debated whether or not Jimmy was close to death. One wrote: “Jimmy and Nicola actually getting some decent material but only because he’s about to die.”
“One of those ominous soap scenes with Jimmy and Nicola tonight” another commented.
An upset fan penned: “The fact we are about to lose Jimmy (and therefore the last King brother) before 2026 ends does not bear thinking about.”
Whether Jimmy’s exit is soon or not. And exactly how it all pans out is to be seen. But with the expected return of Sadie King coming soon, we’re sure in for an exciting few months.
