Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood has come under fire from viewers after Moyin’s cake ended up on the floor.

Moyin had spent four hours creating his Showstopper, which this week had to be a “wearable bake”.

The contestants had been challenged by the public in Audience Choice week to make a fashion item.

Moyin decided to make a spectacular Lambeth Top Hat cake, which was displayed on a mannequin for Paul and Nigella Lawson to judge.

But seconds after Paul cut a massive slice, the cake slid right off the mannequin’s head and landed upside down on the floor with a thud.

The room gasped, as Nigella jumped backwards to avoid being splattered with icing.

Paul, however, has been slammed for what he did next.

Earlier in the episode Paul had given Moyin his first Hollywood Handshake of the series. It was awarded for his Basque Cheesecake.

But he wasn’t so impressed with his Showstopper.

Moyin had mad a pale green and pink hat, which he had topped with raspberries.

Paul told him: “My issue is, it just looks like a cake.” Nigella chipped in: “I absolutely agree, however, it is the most beautiful cake.”

Paul then began to cut a huge slice out of Moyin’s Showstopper with it still sat on the mannequin’s head. He told the budding baker: “That wasn’t the brief. But let’s take a look, shall we?”

The cake then slid right off and landed upside down. GBBO host Alison Hammond shrieked audibly.

With Moyin laughing in shock, Paul bluntly said: “Yeah, well it needs to sit slightly lower on the head. It wouldn’t have wobbled as much.”

Paul then proceeded to taste it, while the rest of the cake stayed on the floor and the room remained deathly silent.

The only positive is that the judges loved the taste: “That’s delicious, it’s a great cake,” Paul laughed. Nigella added: “It’s really sensational.”

But chucking in a final dig, Paul added: “However for me, I don’t think you met the brief. I think it needed to look more like a hat than a cake.”

Paul Hollywood accused of ‘victim blaming’

Fans were furious with Paul with the way he handled the incident. Some even accused him of causing the mishap, as he didn’t take the cake off the mannequin before cutting it with a large knife.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, viewers were quick to call him out for blaming what happened on Moyin.

One wrote: “Paul throws the cake up the floor and then blames the baker for not putting it low enough.”

Another added: “‘Didn’t meet the brief’ my ass YOU KNOCKED OVER HIS CAKE????”

A third agreed, saying: “Paul dropping someone else’s cake and then blaming them for it.”

And someone else chimed in: “Not Paul with the victim blaming stop ittttttt.”
