I Will Find You on Netflix: Filming locations for new thriller include a Harlan Coben first, but it's not where you think
Sam Worthington stars in the TV adaptation
I Will Find You is the latest collab between Harlan Coben and Netflix, and while we know exactly what we are getting here, the filming locations might shock you.
As well as not being filmed exactly where it’s set, the eight-part series also marks a first which perhaps only die-hard fans would be able to spot.
The new series sees Sam Worthington play David Burroughs, a father serving a life sentence for the murder of his own son. However, he insists it’s a crime he didn’t commit.
When he is presented with evidence that his son Matthew might actually be alive, he breaks out of prison to uncover the truth. It’s fair to say, the series is quite the ride!
Based on Harlan Coben’s novel of the same name, viewers will see David on the run from the police, desperate to discover what really happened to his son. And, crucially, who set him up for the murder. The stakes are high, but David feels he has nothing to lose…
So what filming locations will you see during the action-packed I Will Find You on Netflix? Here’s everything you need to know.

Where is I Will Find You on Netflix set?
The new Netflix thriller I Will Find You is a first for Netflix’s collaborations with Harlan Coben. It’s the first time one of his Netflix productions has actually been set in North America. The Sam Worthington series is set in Boston, Massachusetts. David later travels to New York City, where his search for his son takes him after his escape from prison.
Although Harlan Coben himself is an American, very few of his Netflix shows have been set in the US. In fact, unlike his books, many of his TV adaptations have been set in the UK or in European countries such as France, Spain, and Poland.

Talking about I Will Find You, the New Jersey-born writer said: “Netflix has been an amazing creative partner all over the globe. And now we get to come home and do it here in the United States. We have a dream team of talent.”
Cast and crew of the thriller did film some scenes in the States, including Washington Square Park, Central Park, and Times Square in New York. Aerial shots also show New York at night, including the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge. But the series was largely filmed elsewhere.

Where was I Will Find You really filmed?
Production on I Will Find You lasted from April to August 2025, with the series predominantly filmed in Ontario, Canada. More specifically, Kingston and Toronto.
Toronto is the capital of the province of Ontario. It’s a major Canadian city along Lake Ontario’s northwestern shore, and known for its soaring skyscrapers, all dwarfed by the iconic, free-standing CN Tower. There’s also lots of green spaces in Toronto, including the famous Queen’s Park and High Park. Those familiar with the area may recognise Hamilton, Brantford, and Kingston which are all in the Greater Toronto Area.
Viewers might also be able to spot the Harbourfront district and neighbourhoods in East York.
Meanwhile, Kingston is a city on Lake Ontario, at the mouth of the Cataraqui and St. Lawrence rivers. It’s known as the Limestone City for its grand 19th-century buildings, including the lakeside Kingston City Hall.

What prison was used as a filming location in I Will Find You?
Kingston Penitentiary was used for the prison sequences in I Will Find You. It is arguably Canada’s most famous prison. The building is a former maximum-security prison which housed some of America’s most dangerous criminals. It closed in 2013 and, as you can see, has been kept in pristine condition.
It has been a National Historic Site of Canada since 1990 and serves as a museum today. You could actually visit it and take a tour if the mood took you. Before it was closed, it was known for several major riots.
Kingston Penitentiary is located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, situated between King Street West and the shores of Lake Ontario. The exact address is 560 King Street West in Kingston.

What other key filming locations were used in I Will Find You?
