‘I felt cheap and degraded!’ MAFS Australia’s Rebecca furiously blasts husband Steve after his awkward Intimacy Week rejection
Things got awkward between the pairMAFS Australia has aired some extremely awkward scenes tonight, but bride Rebecca has hit out at her on-screen husband, Steve, over his behaviour.
Tuesday night (March 24) MAFS Australia marked the start of the 2026 Intimacy Week. And it’s safe to say, it didn’t get off to a great start for a lot of couples.
However, after the awkward and uncomfortable scenes aired in Australia, Rebecca spoke out about how she really felt about Steve’s rejection.

Rebecca and Steve awkward Intimacy Week scenes
As Intimacy Week begins, the first task is for the women to live out their biggest fantasies. They all headed to a sex shop to pick out some fancy dress outfits, and headed back to their men.
But while Rebecca was out with Gia, they decided she should embrace it, and go get what she wants. And for her, what she wanted was for Steve to show her some more interest.
However, when she returned to the apartment, and explained the whole task to Steve – who has a shock relation to David Beckham, she showed him her outfit. And he was definitely not impressed.
She asked him if he would like her to put it on, pointing out that she made sure to get the one that was “covered up” the most. But in awkward scenes, Steve told her he didn’t actually want that.
He explained that his idea of “intimacy” isn’t something bought from a sex shop. And that they have different opinions on what it means.

The awkwardness left Rebecca reeling. And she has since spoken out about what was going through her head.

MAFS Australia Rebecca hits out
Speaking to 9Entertainment, Rebecca admitted just how “disappointed” she felt when Steve rejected her. But she also explained that there was a lot going on between the pair that wasn’t seen. Particularly, how Steve wasn’t showing up for her.
She explained: “I think Steve and I, we’re just in different places when it comes to intimacy. But I think he’s confused with what I’m asking.”
Rebecca clarified that for her, it wasn’t just about the physical or emotional connection. Instead, she wanted him to “put in the effort” to know her better.
The 51-year-old leasing manager confessed: “I don’t think he was really showing up for me in the experiment. It was disappointing because I waited for so long to go into it.
“I wanted to have fun with it and for it to be light, nothing to serious. It was meant to be playful and fun.”
As for how she felt in the moment Steve rejected her, Rebecca admitted it was a horrible moment that made her doubt herself.
“I felt really cheap and disregarded in that moment,” she said. “It left that self-doubt of ‘is he really into me?’
“For me, intimacy is very important in the right relationship. And he kind of just shut the whole thing down. He just wasn’t interested.”
With intimacy week set to continue over the next few days, UK viewers will have to wait and see if Rebecca and Steve make it through the process on MAFS Australia.
