Jamie Laing‘s wife Sophie Habboo will give birth on screen in the couple’s brand new Disney+ series, Raising Chelsea: Jamie and Sophie’s Next Chapter – but when does it start?

Sophie, 31, admits she initially “didn’t want to film” the personal milestone moment, but ended up relenting after having a last minute change of heart.

The couple watched the footage back together after welcoming son Ziggy into the world and decided it should be included, as it is “real life”.

With the start date for the new show just days away, Sophie explains: “With the birth scene, we really didn’t expect to go in there.

“I didn’t actually want to film that, but it’s there and it’s real and that is the story and that is what happened. I’ve just gone for it.”

Jamie, 37, adds: “Can I just caveat that I didn’t force Sophie to film the birth scene!”

Sophie continues: “No, what actually happened was my anaesthetist took my phone and filmed the whole thing.

“When I’d given birth and we were looking through the photos, we were like, ‘Oh my God, the whole thing’s been filmed’.

Raising Chelsea: Jamie and Sophie’s Next Chapter trailer

The new Disney+ series follows the couple during Sophie’s pregnancy, lead up to her December 2025 birth and beyond.

It shows the couple adapting to the big lifestyle change afoot and navigating parenthood for the first time.

Jamie and Sophie recently shared the first teaser trailer for the upcoming series on social media. In the clip, the couple sit in director’s chairs with their names written on the back, alongside a tiny chair left empty for baby Ziggy.

Jamie captioned the post: “Ready to meet our newest family member…? Raising Chelsea, coming soon to Disney+.”

‘No-holds-barred whirlwind journey’

According to the official synopsis, Raising Chelsea will document Sophie’s pregnancy, their move into a new £12 million London home, and the early days of life as a family of three. Viewers will also see how the pair juggle busy careers with raising a baby.

The synopsis explains: “Jamie and Sophie’s on-screen journey in their twenties gripped audiences across the globe on hit Channel 4 series Made in Chelsea.” Their new Disney+ show promises to take viewers on “a no-holds-barred whirlwind journey of the next chapter in their lives”.

The couple have also spoken openly about their excitement at bringing this new stage of their lives to television.

In a statement announcing the project last year, they said: “For nearly a decade, we’ve brought audiences along the highs and lows of our personal and professional lives.

“It’s such an honour to now partner with the incredible teams at Disney+ and Dorothy St Pictures to bring our next chapter to viewers across the globe. Navigating our lives with a baby on the way has opened up a whole new stage of our relationship. We can’t wait to give you a front row seat!”

Jamie also shared his excitement in an Instagram post when the series was first confirmed.

“A real pinch-me moment for us… Our own series on Disney+ coming soon!!!” he gushed. “Seriously without your endless support we wouldn’t be here now creating it.”

Jamie and Sophie’s relationship

Jamie and Sophie first met while filming E4 reality series, Made In Chelsea. Their friendship eventually blossomed into a relationship after a few on-screen ups and downs.

Jamie proposed in December 2021 at London’s Rosewood Hotel, the same place they had their first date.

The couple tied the knot in a civil ceremony in London in April 2023, followed by a larger celebration in Marbella the following month.

Ahead of the wedding, they launched their popular podcast NearlyWeds, which later evolved into NearlyParents after Sophie became pregnant.

The podcast has documented everything from pregnancy updates to baby name debates. Jamie and Sophie announced the birth of their son Ziggy on December 4 2025.
