Romeo Beckham has been pictured on set for the first time after landing a role in French film Forty Love.

The son of David and Victoria Beckham, Romeo is hoping his movie debut will pave the way for a career as an actor.

Romeo, 23, plays the part of a gay tennis player in the romantic drama and his character is central to the storyline.

A new picture of Romeo has now emerged and it shows him in Forty Love alongside his co-star, Paul Kircher.

Romeo is sporting a shaved head in the new photograph and is looking directly at Paul, who plays tennis protégé Sacha Gallo.

Sacha is heading towards a very bright future on the court, all mapped out by his father – who also happens to be his coach.

But the arrival of new tennis player on the scene really throws a spanner in the works. Sacha is on the cusp of winning a big tennis competition in Paris but new contender – played by Romeo – takes his eyes of the game.

The movie is set in the French Riviera and “explores the balance between ambition, performance, and intimacy”.

A synopsis reads: “For the first time, Gallo faces an opponent of an entirely different nature – love. A force as exhilarating as it is destabilising – and far more dangerous than anything he has encountered on the court.”

Forty Love is directed by Pierre-Ange Carlotti. The French film also stars The Beach’s Guillaume Canet and iconic French actress Catherine Deneuve.

But the reaction to Romeo’s new career move hasn’t all been positive.

Fans react to Romeo Beckham’s acting career

Taking to X, lots of people share shared their thoughts on Romeo landing a role in Forty Love. And the general thoughts are that he was cast as a result of his very famous and millionaire parents.

Initially, Romeo had been pursuing his own careers in both tennis and football. However, in 2024, he took a new direction in the world of fashion. Romeo went on to model for fashion giants Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga.

And now acting appears to be his thing.

Commenting on his new role in Forty Love, one critic wrote on X: “Another nepo baby. Revolutionary.”

Another added: “Nice to have a famous daddy and mummy who can pull strings to get ahead of the line.”

And a third referenced the 2002 film Bend It Like Beckham (which did NOT star Romeo’s dad David): “Oh he’ll be bending him like Beckham,” the person said.

Forty Love is due to be released in France in November this year. The release dates for the rest of the world are yet to be confirmed.

We wonder if the red carpet for the premiere will be a full-on Beckham family affair (minus Brooklyn, for obvious reasons)? Quite likely!
