Strictly Come Dancing fans predict Delta Goodrem's future on show after she's given a 'bye' for her rib injury

Strictly Come Dancing viewers have predicted Delta Goodrem’s future in the ballroom if injury doesn’t force her off the show for good.

Delta, 41, has been given a ‘bye’ for this weekend’s Icons Week live show after sustaining a nasty rib injury in training.

This means she can skip straight through to Week 5 of the competition if medics deem her fit enough.

But fans have been discussing just how far they think Delta will go in the competition – and it’s not great news for her.

Strictly Come Dancing’s Delta Goodrem given ballroom ‘bye’

Delta’s rib injury was announced on Monday night’s episode of Strictly: It Takes Two. It was confirmed in the BBC Two spin-off show that she is allowed to skip this Saturday’s live show with dance partner Kai Widdrington.

Delta admitted to fans in a statement: “I’ve been loving every second of this experience, so having to sit this one out is heartbreaking – especially after the high of Saturday nigh.

“I cannot tell you how much I love being a part of this magical show. I’m going to focus on resting and recovering, and hopefully I’ll be back on that dancefloor very soon.”

It has since been reported that the Lost Without You hitmaker visited A&E on Sunday morning. She then spent “most of Monday” back at the hospital.

But even if she does manage to recover, fans don’t see Delta and Kai going all the way.

Last weekend, despite her injury, the pair topped the Strictly Leaderboard.

Delta insists she has no previous Latin and ballroom dance experience. She did, however, attend dance classes as a child.

Delta’s stage experience is quite extensive, too. In addition to her pop career, Delta appeared in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats for the musical’s Australia and New Zealand tour in 2016.

And traditionally, Strictly Come Dancing fans prefer their winner to have less experience. They also like people who have been on a ‘journey’.

Strictly fans predict Delta Goodrem’s future on the show

Strictly viewers have been sharing their predictions for Delta after news broke of her injury. They are convinced that her ‘bye’ won’t hold her and Kai back in the competition, but they’re convinced they won’t lift the Glitterball.

One fan wrote on Reddit: “Delta would’ve got through this week anyway, we’re just not seeing her dance. I don’t think she will win, she will get through to the final even if she gets to a dance off, then she will lose to someone more popular with the audience.”

Agreeing, another added: “I don’t think she is a front runner. She’ll get to the final (injury permitting) but only because the judges will put her there. But she won’t be popular enough with the public to win. There’s at least one like her every year.”

A third wrote: “If she returns she’ll make the final I’m sure but I don’t think she’s winning. Voters are more likely to vote for a journey contestant. Someone starting off ok and getting better, or someone like Bill Bailey who is way better than anyone expected.”

And someone else chimed in: “If she returns, I think she can make the final. I’m less hopeful of her winning, although I’d be happy if she did.”

Interesting. What do you think?
