Strictly fans tip Shaun Wright-Phillips to be out first following low-scoring debut dance
Poor Shaun...Strictly fans have a dire prediction for Shaun Wright-Phillips following his performance last night (Saturday, September 26).
The former Chelsea and Manchester City footballer, 44, picked up just 15 points during yesterday’s show, leaving him joint bottom of the leaderboard.
Shaun Wright-Phillips’ first dance on Strictly
Last night saw Shaun make his live show debut.
The star, along with American dance partner Alexis Warr, 26, performed a cha-cha-cha to “Lil Boo Thang” by Paul Russell.
However, they failed to impress, picking up just 15 points from the judges.
Craig Revel Horwood awarded them just two points, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas gave them four points, and Anton Du Beke handed them five points.
“I think it’s going to be a few more weeks before you reach pro level,” Craig quipped, referencing Shaun’s desire to be “as good as the pros” during last week’s launch show.
“I’ll take that,” Shaun laughed. “That’s all I have to say,” Craig said, drawing more laughter from the footy star.
Fans predict Shaun will be first out
Following his performance, fans revealed that they don’t have high hopes for Shaun to make it past next week.
Taking to X, one fan wrote: “I see Shaun being out first.”
“I think first out will be between Shaun, Chris and Sarah next week,” another said.
“Shaun was very stiff. He needs to loosen up; otherwise, he’ll be the first one out next week,” a third predicted.
“We have our first one-out contender………,” another added.
Strictly fans gutted for Alexis
Fans also expressed their disappointment for Alexis and the possibility that she will be out first.
“Oh Alexis, girlie, I’m SO sorry x,” one fan tweeted.
“Well! I hope Alexis gets to do some gorgeous pieces for musical guests and pro routines,” another said.
“Last year Alexis had George [Clarke] where they reached the final, and now she could potentially be the first one out,” a third wrote.
However, Alexis and Shaun weren’t the only couple at the bottom of the leaderboard.
Melanie Walters and Aljaz Skorjanec also scored 15 points, as did Dame Sarah Storey and Julian Caillon.
Meanwhile, Katya Jones and John Nellis found themselves at the other end of the leaderboard with 31 points.
