Surprise Emmerdale engagement! All the reasons we want Sarah and Jacob to last
Love is in the air and long may it last!Jacob and Sarah in Emmerdale might be doing things a funny way round – planning a baby together and then deciding to be together, but they have now committed to each other and got engaged. Aw!
It came as something of a shock in Thursday July 24s episode of the soap, given at the start of it they weren’t even a couple! However, we’re on board with it. Long may they last!
Jacob and Sarah got engaged in Emmerdale tonight
Sarah was being cheered up with a picnic by Jacob as she worried about Mack putting a stop to their baby dream. Jacob reassured her then took the plunge and admitted he didn’t want to be mates, he wants to be more.
“I want to be with you. I love you Sarah, I’m head over heels.” Jacob tried to kiss her, but she pulled away. Sarah said she couldn’t do this again and walked off.
Jacob chased after her and said he’d rather they were friends than nothing. But Sarah admitted she loved him too and she never stopped. He promised not to hurt her again and they kissed and made up.
Moments later they agreed to “shout it from the roof tops” about them being in love. Sarah asked if they were boyfriend and girlfriend, but Jacob wanted to make it more official than that – and dropped to one knee!
He asked Sarah to marry him and she giddily said yes. They broke the news to Charity and Mack, went to the pub to celebrate and Jacob presented her with late mum Leyla’s engagement ring (not sure which engagement that’s from, but hey).
What a whirlwind!
We want Sarah and Jacob to last in Emmerdale!
Now, sometimes we are guilty of being a little too cynical. After all, on the surface of it everything is stacked against Sarah and Jacob. She’s got a life-limiting condition (if you didn’t already know!), they’re both extremely young and Sarah’s never even had a proper relationship before.
The first time they got together didn’t exactly go well – they were on and off more times than a tap and Jacob was actually a bit awful to her.
All of this is not to mention Jacob’s relationship history. He’s clearly never dealt with his abuse and grooming by Maya Stepney, nor has he got over the death of his mum. Is this just grief on Jacob’s part?
But – and it is a big but – what is life if not for taking a risk here and there? Why not throw caution to the wind and get on board? Here’s all the reasons we want Sarah and Jacob to work.
1. Emmerdale needs some happiness
It’s fair to say Emmerdale has been dreary recently. Disaster after tragedy after murder after heartbreak after drama. We need some love. Emmerdale is constantly splitting couples up, so we are throwing ourselves behind them getting one together at last.
Sarah herself has been at the centre of a lot of this heartbreak, and Jacob too when Leyla died. So both of them are characters who deserve happiness to.
And let’s face it, who doesn’t want to see sulky Sarah stop moping around feeling sorry for herself? That’s a win for us!
2. They’re a good age match
Jacob has a habit of going after much older women. Maya first and then Victoria Sugden, who was nine years his senior. Both women, incidentally, had been involved with his dad, David Metcalfe, at one time or another.
But Sarah is the right age for Jacob – she’s 20 and he’s 22. Plus, she’s never dated David, so again, win win.
3. Jacob and Sarah are having a baby together in Emmerdale!
Even before they became a couple again, Sarah and Jacob were planning to have a child. At first, Sarah was going it alone and Jacob was just donating his sperm. Then he wanted to be involved as a proper dad and care for the kid if Sarah died young.
Things hit a snag when Sarah had to have an emergency hysterectomy. But now Charity has stepped in as their surrogate, so they’re back on track.
Co-parenting will inevitably bring them closer, so why not speed that up so they can be living their lives together right now.
4. Who doesn’t love a good soap wedding?
Let’s face it, they never go to plan, but that’s what we love about weddings in Soapland. We haven’t really got a big day to look forward to at the moment – we already know Vinny and Gabby’s is doomed, given his near-kiss with Kammy.
And if Jacob and Sarah’s did go to plan it would mean we’d have the thing we’ve been waiting for: a happy ending in Emmerdale at last.

They may have seemed like the show's strongest couple at the beginning, but cracks between Gia and Scott are already starting to show. And it's mainly down to his Only Fans ex-girlfriend.
Scott's ex came up in conversation quite a lot during the family and friends visit. But it was actually what Gia found later on his phone that caused things to erupt.

What did Gia find on Scott's phone on MAFS Australia?
At the very start of the friends and family visits, Scott's friends couldn't help but go in quite hard with their questions. They wanted to know about Scott's future involvement with Gia's daughter and where they would live. But Gia quickly joked about feeling like it was an ambush.
However, things got even worse when one of Scott's friends asked him if she was just a "better copy" of his ex-girlfriend, leaving Gia horrified. She shut him down and told him not to compare them because she "would never" use Only Fans.
While the couple seemed to get back on track, things took another turn as Scott – who has been on numerous reality shows – later told production that Gia had "left the experiment".
What was the reasoning for this? Well, while Gia was unlocking Scott's phone for him when he was driving, some images came up as a memory on his phone. But they weren't just normal photos, they were pics of his ex-girlfriend in lingerie. And when Gia asked him to delete them, he refused as they were part of his "memories".

Who is Scott's ex-girlfriend?
But the question a lot of viewers have been wondering is who exactly is Scott's ex-girlfriend?
According to the Daily Mail, Scott's ex-girlfriend is Abby Dowse, who has a huge 3.3 million Instagram followers.
Her feed is full of raunchy pics of herself, wearing swimwear and lingerie in seductive poses.
And just like Gia explained in the episode, Abby is indeed an adult content creator, with her Only Fans page boasting 98K likes.
However, Gia claimed Abby sells her content for $8 per month, but in reality she charges $14.99.
Not much is known about Scott and Abby's relationship, but it's believed they were together between 2021 and 2024. Abby has cleared any photos of Scott off her social media pages, but Scott does still follow her Instagram.
Since filming the show, Gia has gone public with her new boyfriend, which unfortunately means she and Scott didn't make their relationship work.
