The Chase fans took aim at one of the contestants during last night’s show (Wednesday, April 1) after their behaviour in the Final Chase.

Viewers took to social media to complain after last night’s episode aired, with many arguing that thanks to the actions of one contestant, the team “bottled it” the win.

What happened on The Chase last night?

Yesterday evening saw yet another four contestants team up to take on the Chaser – this time being Darragh Ennis, aka The Menace.

First up was Josh from Surrey. He answered five questions correctly in the cash builder, bagging himself £5,000. He managed to avoid being caught by The Menace, booking his slot in the Final Chase.

Next up was Lorraine from Glasgow. She earned £3,000 in the cash builder and managed to keep out of Darragh’s grasp to make it through to the final round.

Third up to the plate was Bryony from Warrington. Like Lorraine, she managed to answer three questions correctly in the cash builder, giving her £3,000 to play with. She, too, evaded Darragh’s grasp.

Last up was Christopher from Leicester. He answered four questions correctly and took on Darragh with £4,000 to play for. He also booked a slot in the final.

Contestant’s behaviour leads to team losing

The team headed into the Final Chase with £15,000 to play for. After getting a four-point head start thanks to all four of them being in the final, the team went on to answer 14 questions correctly. This gave them an 18-point head start over Darragh.

However, with 30 seconds to go, the wheels fell off. The team had a string of wrong answers, with Bryony saying pass to four questions in total during the Final Chase.

Darragh criticised the team, saying that with 30 seconds to go, they should have been setting records.

Darragh was on fire, managing to catch the team with 23 seconds to spare.

Turning to the team, Bradley told them they needed to have had at least a 20-point head start to stand a chance.

Fans slam Bryony and the team

Fans of the show were not impressed with Bryony’s passing questions or the fact that the team “bottled” the chance to win. Some accused Bryony of not checking with her teammates first before saying “pass”.

“Pass pass [bleeping] pass,” one fan fumed.

“I got all the seven or eight she passed on, but I would have struggled to beat her to the buzzer,” another joked.

“Too many passes, she didn’t even check if her team knew!” a third wrote.

“Bryony passed far too much; she should’ve guessed. Easy guesses,” another said.

“Bryony [bleeped] it up with far too many passes, just have a guess!” a fifth tweeted.

“Haha. [Bleeping] bottled it,” another wrote. Some viewers were kinder in their reactions.

“Sadly wasn’t to be,” one said. “How nice to finish your final round and have Brad tell you how [bleep] you’ve just done,” another said, criticising Bradley.

“Pity the wheels feel off a little,” a third added.
