Trigger Point series 4: New images and trailer show Lana Washington 'facing the biggest terror attack this country's seen'
ITV’s 'propulsive' and hugely popular drama will return to ITV later this year...
Trigger Point‘s upcoming series 4 has a new trailer which gives us a glimpse of what Lana and the team of bomb disposal officers – known as EXPOs – are facing this time. And it’s big.
Last year, ITV announced that they’d recommissioned the Vicky McClure thriller for further episodes. And the news came even before series 3 had aired. That was after the huge success of series 1 and 2 in 2022 and 2024. Series 3 aired in 2025, and the latest episodes are coming soon.
The last series was the fifth most watched drama on ITV in 2025, averaging seven million viewers. Here’s everything we know so far about Trigger Point series 4.

Will there be a series 4 of Trigger Point?
Trigger Point fans must be feeling like it’s their birthday and Christmas all at once at the minute. Not only did the ITV series return with a series 3 in the autumn of 2025, but there’ll be another series coming in 2026.
A statement from the channel said: “Series 4 is coming to screens in 2026.”
Series 3 also received a special honour in March when Her Majesty The Queen visited the Trigger Point set. Yes really! She met with the team to mark the start of ITV’s 70th year celebrations.
Commissioned for ITV by Director of Drama, Polly Hill, she said: “I’m delighted that this thrilling series is returning for a fourth series. I know audiences will be once again on the edge of their seat as Lana and the team take us on another thrilling ride to keep the capital safe.”
Talking about the recommission, Polly Hill continued: “Trigger Point is one of ITV’s most-watched dramas of last year [2024] after Mr Bates vs The Post Office… So I’m delighted that this thrilling series is returning for a fourth series.”
Vicky McClure added: “I love working with the team. We have a great time making the show and I cannot wait to continue Lana’s journey on Trigger Point.”
What’s the plot of Trigger Point series 4?
Like the previous three series, Trigger Point series 4 will follow a team of bomb disposal officers, known as EXPOs, as they dedicate themselves to keeping the capital safe from explosive devices and terrorist threats.
At this time, ITV has not revealed any more details about the plot of Trigger Point series 4. We do know that leading actress Vicky McClure, who plays Expo Lana Washington, filmed series 4 in the summer of 2025.
She said: “We’re all buzzing ITV have such faith in this series to commission a fourth before the third has even aired.”

Who’s in the cast?
Vicky McClure will reprise her role as Expo Lana Washington in series 4 of Trigger Point. Eric Shango will return as Danny, while Nabil Elouahabi is back as Hassan Rahim. Natalie Simpson and Maanuv Thiara will reprise their roles as DS Helen Morgan and DCI Batra respectively.
Guest stars include This City is Ours Julie Graham as Commander Nia Quentin, and After the Flood’s Jonas Armstrong in an undisclosed role. But judging by the new trailer (below), he’s not one of the good guys!
The death toll for series 1 and 2 claimed some pretty key characters. Series 1 saw the shocking death of Lana’s military pal and duty partner Joel Nutkins (Adrian Lester) who died in an explosion at the end of the very first episode!
In Trigger Point series 2, a whopping three characters died. These were Lana’s ex-boyfriend DI Thom Youngblood (Mark Stanley), John Hudson (Kris Hitchen), and Alex (Tomiwa Edun).
Series 3 saw the team survive all the horrors thrown at them. But the most notable death in the finale was Wyles (played by Jason Flemyng), who was blown up by Isaac. Wyles was unmasked as the serial bomber, whose motives were tied to the Coldmarsh contract cover-up.
How many episodes is it? When is the start date?
Trigger Point series 4 will comprise of six new episodes, of an hour each (including ads).
We’re expecting it to drop any day now, and ITV has teased it’s coming soon.

Trailer for Trigger Point series 4
The dramatic new trailer (released on Monday, August 03) shows Lana Washington and her team in serious peril. And gives us a glimpse of her new co-stars, including Julie Graham, and Jonas Armstrong’s probable villain.
In the trailer, viewers see Vicky McClure’s Lana ask: “You can’t help but think, is this it? Is this the last one?” And it’s a reasonable question, bearing in mind she’s lost several of her teammates over the past few series.
A voice off-screen tells us: “What we are facing is unprecedented.”
Lana continues: “These bombers know how we work. They are ready for us. They are coming for us. The bombs feel bigger. The threats are closer.”
Meanwhile, Julie Graham’s new character says: “This is the biggest terror attack this country has seen.” Yikes.
