Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and ITVX today (Wednesday, October 14), and fans have good news: it is due to air as usual this week after last week’s schedule disruption.
Footie, rugby, and other special shows can push ITV to tamper with the usual soap schedule to make room. And these schedule changes have been happening a lot recently!

Is Coronation Street on tonight?
Yes, Coronation Street will air at 8.30pm on ITV1 tonight. Emmerdale will also air beforehand in its usual 8pm slot.
Streaming is also available on ITVX and YouTube. Episodes are available every day from 7am for anyone who can’t wait until the evening. You will also find past episodes in the same place if you need to catch up on any you might have missed.
What happens in Coronation Street tonight?
Sarah surveys her prison cell, worried it might be her home for many years. Later, in court, the prosecution barrister tells the jury how Sarah was so angered by Theo’s treatment of Todd that she took the law into her own hands and killed him.
When Lisa and Danielle take the witness stand, the trial takes a devastating turn for Sarah.
Later, David accuses Lisa of sabotaging Sarah’s defence. He then turns his attention to Kit and tears a strip off him for the lack of support. Kit loses his temper and tells David and Bethany he wants nothing more to do with their family.
Meanwhile, Ronnie turns down Debbie’s offer of an afternoon in bed. Instead, he tells her he’s nipping to grab them some lunch. Fearing the worst, Debbie summons Abi to the flat and tells her she’s convinced Ronnie’s seeing someone else and planning to put her in a care home.
Also, Sam’s upset to read nasty comments on a school chat group. They’re all directed at him, apart from a message from Hope, who leaps to his defence.
When Nick reveals that they can no longer afford to pay their meat supplier and they’re reduced to buying meat from Freshco, Leanne suggests they should cut their losses and sell the business. Is she planting the seed for Idris?
Soap power hour in 2026
In October 2024, Corrie started streaming daily episodes of the soap from 7am.
This change was actually welcomed by many fans. Stats for the first quarter of 2025 confirm that ITVX achieved a ‘record-breaking’ billion streams in a quarter for the ‘first time ever.’ Coronation Street and Emmerdale have raked up 124 million streams on ITVX so far this year. Soap viewing is up 35 per cent in comparison to the first quarter of 2024.
And then from January 2026, more changes came in. After the huge Corriedale episode, instead of airing just three days a week, Corrie now airs every weekday but for only half an hour.
Emmerdale begins the ‘soap power hour’ at 8pm and is followed by Corrie at 8.30pm. Both episodes are usually on Monday-Friday and new episodes also drop on ITVX every morning at 7am as usual.
