Is Emmerdale on tonight? Is it on ITVX?
Emmerdale will air tonight at 8pm and Coronation Street, which usually follows at 8.30pm, will also be on.
Streaming is also available on ITVX and YouTube. They usually release episodes every day from 7am for anyone who can’t wait until tonight to watch.
With all the disruption over the summer, some think if ITV brought the power hour earlier, it might make more sense, as then the soaps could possibly still air whenever the sport is on!
What happens in Emmerdale tonight?
Charity is in prison charged with murder and Sarah is unrepentant. Mackenzie is desperate to help his wife so threatens Sarah, but will she change her mind?
Visiting Charity in prison, Mack is confused to be told he has to go and give Cain’s Saint Christopher necklace back to him. Cain understands what it means, but will he be able to help Charity?
Elsewhere, Nicola discovers the volume of debt they are really in, having found out the house has been remortgaged and they are in arrears. Can she find Jimmy’s money?
And, Joe finally visits his son in hospital, which Kim and Graham think is a breakthrough. But then he reveals he’s made a decision about the baby’s future. What has Joe decided?
Soap power hour is a hit
In October 2024, Emmerdale began streaming the daily episode of the soap from 7am. Despite some concerns that it meant the soap was in trouble, coupled with lots of cast exits, it has been revealed that actually it was a great move by ITV as stats revealed viewing was way up.
The soap then announced a new schedule. The soap ‘power hour’ started in January 2026 and sees Emmerdale continue to air five nights a week. New episodes also drop on ITVX every morning at 7am as usual.
However, the soap has moved to a new time slot of 8pm. The Thursday double bill was also cut to half an hour to make way for additional episodes of Coronation Street.
This ensures faster-paced, digestible episodes – a 30-minute format which has already proven popular with viewers.
However, it also seems that the changes don’t stop the disruption caused by sports.
