Big Brother is gearing up for a brand new series – but when does it start?

The iconic and original reality show is returning to ITV with a gaggle of new housemates, all with their eyes on a big cash prize.

Telly bosses have also promised “unexpected twists” and “game-changing moments” just to keep them – and us – on our toes.

The house is said to have been “reimagined” to be a place full of surprises…

So when does it start?! Here’s what we know.

Big Brother 2026: Who is hosting?

The house has been given a dramatic makeover, but there is no change when it comes to the Big Brother hosts.

AJ Odudu and Will Best will once again be presenting the show when it returns. They will be on hand to wave the new housemates into the Big Brother house, before greeting them when they are given the boot.

There is a big change to Big Brother’s companion show, though.

It has been confirmed that Kate Lawler is returning to her Big Brother roots in brand new spin-off show, Big Brother: The Group Chat. Kate famously won Big Brother in 2002, so she knows the show better than anybody.

Kate will be joined by GK Barry as her co-host and the spin-off will feature exclusive interviews with evicted housemates, celebrity fans and special guests.

What is the prize?

As usual, this year’s Big Brother will feature  tasks, high stakes nominations and dramatic live evictions as the contestants battle to outlast their rivals.

The person who makes to the end and is declared the Big Brother 2026 winner will be handed a cash prize. ITV is yet to confirm the amount, describing it only as “life-changing”.

In 2025, Richard Storry won the series and was awarded £100,000. We’re expecting it to be the same this year.

When does Big Brother 2026 start?

ITV has confirmed that Big Brother will officially kick off on Sunday September 13, 2026. The launch show will air on ITV2 and ITVX from 9pm.

Big Brother: The Group Chat will then follow Big Brother immediately afterwards from Sunday to Thursday nights. You will also be able to watch this on ITV’s YouTube account.

Prefer a podcast? Big Brother: The Group Chat will also be available on all major podcast platforms.
