Who left The Great British Bake Off? Yannis is sent home after serving up a pudding covered in split cream
The cream had turned sourThe Great British Bake Off contestants were faced with Dessert Week tonight but one was sadly pud out to pasture – but who left?
The remaining eight bakers were tasked with three pudding-related challenges, which tested their skills to the limit.
Sadly, the tent was one person down after Nikki was forced to bow out of the series.

It came after she left Bread Week early following the death of her beloved mum Joyce.
But judges Paul Hollywood and Nigella Lawson weren’t pulling any punches and still sent one baker home. Here’s what happened.
Great British Bake Off 2026: Dessert Week
Dessert Week’s first challenge, the Signature, saw the bakers each make eight self-saucing puddings.
Noel warned them all: “Because self-saucing puddings are tasted immediately out of the oven, there will be a staggered start time and a staggered finish time.”
Gary was first up. He had to get to work while the other seven bakers stood on and watched. Clara began 10 minutes later, followed by Connie and then Gabe. Tom was next before Mo got to work and then Moyin. Yannis was last to start.
Gary’s pud received a thumbs up from Nigella and Paul. But they were disappointed with Clara’s self-saucing pudding. Nigella told her: “This is not so much a self-saucing but a sauce with a bit of cake on top.” Paul described it as a “heated liquid”.
Connie forgot to set her timer, which gave her a wobble. But she didn’t need to worry – her chocolate orange self-saucing dessert earned a Hollywood Handshake!
Gabe’s sadly lacked liquid and was over-baked. Tom got a positive reaction to his puddings, but Mo split the judges. Nigella told him he had “gorgeous flavours”, but Paul didn’t like “the grains in the hazelnuts”.

Moyin impressed the judges with his flavours, but his puds were deemed overcooked too.
Meanwhile, Nigella told Yannis there was “something slightly gummy” in his sauce. Err… appetising.
Traditional Technical and retro Showstopper
The Gingham Shrouded Pantry was brought back for this week’s Technical. Nigella challenged the bakers to make a bread and butter pudding with “their own flavour”. But they were warned not to “overwhelm” it.
The pressure was on, as last week was the worst Technical Paul had witnessed in 17 years!
There were favours of raisins, apricots and even white chocolate and saffron among the bread and butter puddings.
Moyin was ranked in last place, with Yannis in seventh. At the other end of the scale, Gary triumphed in the Technical.
When it came to the Showstopper, the bakers had to produce a trolley full of desserts. There had to be at least three different desserts and there needed to be a baking element.
Nigella was so excited, telling the cameras: “It has made me so deliriously happy I can hardly talk about it! This is an excellent challenge. I am in a flurry of excitement.”
There was plenty of retro classics on the trollies, including Black Forest Gateaux and traditional trifle. There was even a Pineapple Upside Down Cake courtesy of Connie.

Who left The Great British Bake Off in Dessert Week?
Clara’s trolley of desserts certainly looked the part. But Nigella described it as “overwhelmingly sweet”. Mo’s trolley was an English and Nigerian fusion of desserts. Overall, the judges enjoyed it. Nigella said one of the puds would be at home in a 5* hotel.
Yannis opted for a trolley of retro British desserts. Nigella had to point out that a Black Forest Gateaux originated in Germany… oops!
Sadly, his cream had split and “turned sour” on top of his gateaux. Yuck. His sticky toffee pudding was “too dense”.
Connie didn’t impress as much as she’d hoped. Paul loved the flavour of her Pineapple Upside Down Cake, but said it was overbaked. Nigella and Paul didn’t like her apple and pear pie. The apple was too hard and it lacked custard.
Gabe had the judges wanting more with his trolley of desserts. Gary, however, was also told it was “not his best work”.
Tom served a trolley with cocktail-themed desserts. Nigella gave the ultimate approval for his Mojito-layered pavlova. She told him: “This is the ideal dessert. This I will be making, if you’d be so kind as to share your recipe with me!”
But it was Connie who was awarded Star Baker of Dessert Week. And sadly, it was Yannis’ time to leave the tent.
He said: “I grew up watching this programme. Being here for five weeks has been surreal. It’s been absolutely wonderful.”
