Coronation Street is currently on Monday, Wednesday and Friday – but when exactly and where can you watch it?
It airs on ITV, with episodes airing from 8pm to 9pm on those days. However, this can sometimes be subject to schedule changes due to football matches or other major events.
You can also watch Coronation Street on ITVX, if you want to watch it early or when you don’t fancy watching live. All episodes from this year are on there to catch up on, as well as some from the end of last year, too.
New episodes are available starting at 7am on the same day they are on TV as well, ideal for those viewers who don’t want to wait until the evening broadcast.
ITV has recently begun releasing new episodes on YouTube at 7am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, too.
However, everything is set to change again from next year…
Next year, ITV is going to be mixing things up with a major scheduling shake-up for both Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
From January, both shows will cut back their weekly episode count as part of a new ‘soap power hour’ format.
Under the change, Emmerdale will air 30-minute episodes every weekday at 8pm from Monday to Friday and Coronation Street will follow for 30 minutes at 8.30pm, also airing nightly from Monday to Friday.
This will basically work out as 30 minutes less soap time a week, with Emmerdale going from six episodes down to five.
Episodes will continue to drop early on ITVX before transmission on ITV1 that evening.
Since first airing in 1960, Coronation Street has unsurprisingly gone through a number of scheduling changes,
When Coronation Street first launched, it aired twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays at 7pm.
A third weekly episode was added on a Wednesday in 1989.
In 1996, Coronation Street added a Sunday night episode too and a fifth episode was added in 2002.
In 2017, the show increased its output to six episodes weekly, airing twice onMonday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.
However, in March 2022, Coronation Street moved to hour-long episodes at 8pm, airing on the same days. This was to align with Emmerdale and avoid clashes.
Feeling nostalgic? Well, the good news is that you can watch Classic Emmerdale every weekday on ITV3.
They usually air back-to-back on weekdays at 2.40pm and 3.45pm, and then are repeated the following morning at 7am and 7.35am.
At the moment, episodes from early 2007 are airing, with Tracy Barlow on trial for the murder of Charlie Stubbs.
