Coronation Street is the world’s longest-running soap, but where has it been filmed in its lifetime? After all these years, Coronation Street’s locations are as famous as the characters who’ve walked them.

But who lives where in Weatherfield? And can you visit the set?

Luckily, we’ve got all the answers!

Coronation Street locations – where is the show filmed?

Coronation Street is filmed on a purpose-built outdoor set at ITV Studios, MediaCityUK in Salford, Greater Manchester, where it moved to in 2013.

Before that, it was filmed at Granada Studios in central Manchester.

Indoor scenes are filmed on studio sets at MediaCityUK, while outdoor shots use a full-scale replica of Coronation Street. Real Manchester streets are used only occasionally for extra authenticity.

Are any of the houses in Coronation Street real?

The answer is, no. The houses on Coronation Street are not real homes.

They’re purpose-built shells on the outdoor set at MediaCityUK designed to look like real terraced houses but without working interiors. The inside scenes you see, such as kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms, are filmed separately in indoor studio sets.

For example, when you see a character walk up to their front door and step inside, they are actually going through a fake entrance. The scene would then cut to an indoor studio set built to match that house’s interior.

Originally, back in the 1960s, the Granada Studios set in Manchester did use facades of terraced houses, but even then they were never lived in or functional as real homes.

Coronation Street – locations and buildings

The Rovers Return

The Rovers Return is the heart of the community, where all Weatherfield residents seem to end up for a chat, a pint, or a bit of drama!

It has always been the street’s main social hub and hosts everything from weddings and celebrations, to the occasional fight.

Coming late 2025, the Rovers is getting a fresh new look with some returning faces. Sound exciting? Well, it is.

That’s because Eva Price has been confirmed to return as landlady and will be running the pub with her partner Ben Driscoll and his interfering mother Maggie (both new castings). Alongside them will be Ben’s two sons and Eva’s daughter Suzie.

Underworld

Underworld, owned by Carla Connor, is the bustling factory where several Weatherfield residents work.

The factory has been the backdrop for countless storylines over the years – from business takeovers to workplace romances – and even a few major disasters (RIP Rana, sob!).

Viaduct Bistro

The Viaduct Bistro, once called Nick’s Bistro, sits under the viaduct arch and serves as Coronation Street/Viaduct Street’s main restaurant.

It is significantly more upmarket than the Rovers and tends to be where characters go for dates, meetings, and celebrations… that often descend into chaos. Nick is the current owner/manager of the Bistro but it has undergone several changes in management over the years.

Given how many scandals go on there, we’d probably choose to eat somewhere else if we’re honest…

Webster’s Autocentre at No. 16

Webster’s Autocentre is Kevin Webster’s garage, opened in 1996.

Like most other Coronation Street locations, the garage has seen plenty of drama – including a murder and a fire.

But, despite this, it’s business as usual and has become one of Weatherfield’s most eventful workplaces, with a long history at the heart of the street.

The Kabin at No. 10

The Kabin is another of Coronation Street’s iconic locations. The beloved corner shop is the place where everyone pops in for a newspaper, a snack or even a chat (or gossip!).

It has been a staple of the street for decades, with Rita Tanner running the shop for most of that time.

Of course, it has seen plenty of drama over the years and is often as much of a social hub as the Rovers, just with more sweets and less beer.

Other Coronation Street locations

Roy’s Rolls and Prima Doner all sit on the outdoor set as well, on the fictional Victoria Street.

The Weatherfield Precinct, which was added in 2022, expanded the Weatherfield world with a two-storey shopping area, complete with flats (Sean Tully and son Dylan live in No. 2) and a piazza.

Coronation Street houses and flats – who lives where? (Odd numbers)

No.1

Number 1 is the classic family hub of the street. As of 2025, it is home to the Barlows – Ken, Tracy, Steve, Amy, Daniel and little Bertie. Sounds like a bit of a squeeze, right?

This house is right next door to the Rovers.

No.3

Another well-known residence in the street, Number 3 is occupied by the Baileys currently. Prior to their arrival in 2019, Emily Bishop lived here.

And if we go even further back to when the show began in 1960, No.3 was once the home of the Barlows. Ken was actually born here and often comments how he has only ever moved one door down from his birthplace in his whole life.

No.5

Built in 1901, this house has seen a long line of residents, including Esther Hayes, Minnie Caldwell, Mike Baldwin, Bert Tilsley, and the Battersbys.

Currently, Chesney and Gemma live here with their five children – Joseph, Aled, Bryn, Carys, and Llio.

No.7

This house was originally built in the early 1900s but collapsed in August 1965 due to a faulty beam and nearby train vibrations. The house remained vacant until 1982 when it was rebuilt, making it the newest house on that side of the street.

As of 2025, Dev owns and resides at No. 7. He purchased the house in 2010 from Maria Connor after reconciling with his ex-wife, Sunita.

Following Sunita’s tragic death in the Rovers Return fire in 2013, Dev has raised their twin children, Aadi and Asha, here. Asha still lives with him here, alongside his new wife, Bernie.

No.9

No.9 is probably most famous for being the home of Jack Duckworth and Vera Duckworth from 1983 to 2010.

It is instantly recognisable for its distinctive stone cladding, added in the 1980s by Vera, who nicknamed it The Old Rectory.

These days, it is home to Tyrone and Fiz, their daughters Hope and Ruby, Tyrone’s son Dorin and Tyrone’s mum, Cassie.

No.11 is a classic red-brick terraced house that has seen many memorable residents over the years.

It has been home to the Tanner, Barlow, McDonald, and Webster families.

These days, Mary and George can be seen living there.

No.13

No.13 is the last house on the terraced side of Coronation Street and is next to the corner shop. It was home for over 20 years for iconic couple Stan and Hilda Ogden.

Currently, it is home to Kevin Webster and family.

No. 15a

This two-bedroom flat is above Dev’s corner shop, and also owned by him. Todd and Theo have very recently moved in here, after Dee-Dee Bailey moved out.

Victoria Court Apartments on Victoria Street

Victoria Court is a block of luxury flats and is one of the newer additions to the Coronation Street set. It was designed to bring a more modern feel alongside the traditional cobbled terraces.

Kal Nazir and his family were among the first residents. In 2015, the block was at the centre of a major storyline when a fire (caused by Tracy Barlow) killed Kal and Maddie Heath.

Current residents include: Maria, Gary and their kids, Liam and Jake at No. 5; Nick, Toyah and Sam at No. 12.

A little further down Victoria Street is Redbank Apartments, where Sarah Platt and her kids, and Kit Green currently live.
