As Theo forces Todd to hide out in flat, James Cartwright rules out 'rehabilitation' for abusive Theo

Todd's truly isolated from his loved ones

In tonight’s episode of Coronation Street (Monday, December 1), Theo was up to his usually tricks and had Todd hide away in the flat.

Todd still had a pretty nasty cut on his face and Theo didn’t want anyone getting the ‘wrong’ idea about how he’d come to get it.

He then forced Todd to hide in the flat before making up a huge lie to his concerned loved ones…

Todd forced to hide in Coronation Street

This evening on the cobbles, poor Todd Grimshaw had plans to visit Summer after her recent collapse but Theo soon put a pin in them. He explained that he didn’t want anyone thinking that he had hurt Todd, believing it was best for him to ‘lie low’ in the flat until the cut on his face didn’t look as bad.

Todd promised that he would stick to the story he’d told the doctor at the hospital and wouldn’t mention Theo. However, he then hid in the flat, peering through the curtains to check if Theo was on his way back.

Summer spotted someone in the flat and presumed that it was Todd. But, Theo had told everyone that he was in London.

Theo and Todd’s mates then worried that a burglar had entered the flat, insisting on investigating alongside Theo.

Theo managed to get there first to warn Todd to hide in the bedroom before making out that whoever had entered through the open door must’ve scarpered off with their laptop.

Summer suggested that they check the in-house security CCTV footage but Theo told her it was broken so wouldn’t be of any use.

Theo had once again successfully managed to cover his tracks, and isolate Todd even further from his mates.

James Cartwright rules out ‘redemption’ arc for villain Theo Silverton

Now, Theo Silverton star James Cartwright has teased that there’s no going back for Theo as far as redemption is concerned. He believes that he’s too far into his villain arc to change his ways.

Speaking to the Metro, actor James Cartwright said: “I’m a big believer in rehabilitation, in second chances.

“But I think that what we’re seeing now is a pattern of behaviour from Theo which he seems incapable of learning from. It’s been this gradual escalation where the pressure has just been upped and upped, like boiling the toad.

“Theo has just upped the temperature one degree at a time. The further you get down a road with a relationship like this, you start to feel a bit embarrassed, and so you start to make excuses for their behaviour. This is where Theo is sitting at the moment which is a very dangerous position for Todd.”

So, with this in mind, fans can only hope that Theo eventually gets his comeuppance.

What else happened in Coronation Street tonight?

Debbie told the truth

Debbie panicked when she forgot the passcode to her tablet and was unable to access her notes for her Women in Business speech.

Improvising on the spot, she then decided to tell the audience about her dementia diagnosis and how she was determined to face the struggles this would create for her running the business head on.

After such a successful speech, Debbie's mates joined her for a few drinks (and a few more), before causing chaos in the Freshco's car park. Yes, Debbie really did jump inside of a shopping trolley like a rebellious teen and bump straight into a police car.

After some drunken giggles and jokes, Debbie and her crew were able to fortunately persuade the police office to let them off the hook. And, then they were off for more drinks at Debbie's flat. Through the turquoise door they went.

Asha returned home

Asha returned home but wasn't happy with Dev's OTT way of looking after her. She didn't want blankets and tending to, she just wanted to return to some form of normality.

Dev got the wrong idea though and thought this meant that Asha was ready to return to work as a paramedic. She was not.

Carla moved out

While Betsy was shocked to realise that her mum and Carla had split, she hoped that Becky could have a word with Carla to get her to change her mind. Really, Betsy, really?

Lisa then headed to the Rovers and hoped that Carla would talk things through with her. She didn't want it to be over between them. But, Carla told her that she'd seen her and Becky putting the Christmas decs up and looking super cosy. Oh, and she'd already sorted out a flat viewing so she'd be moving out of No.6. That was fast.

Shona got to the bottom of things

Nina and Shona snooped through Roy's letters and realised he was talking to someone called Alice.

Roy then fessed up that he'd formed a friendship with Alice but was stunned when she started writing back to him with a romantic undertone. He needed a way to let her down but couldn't find the words. Oh Roy!
