Things took a bad turn

Coronation Street tonight (Friday, October 24) saw Todd damage the car Theo had gifted him – giving Theo the perfect excuse to continue his abuse of Todd.

Despite having no work, Theo gifted Todd with a new car. Although delighted, Todd is starting to realise that perhaps the car is more trouble than it’s worth.

But spoilers reveal Todd’s turmoil is set to go on for a bit longer.

Theo was angry over milkshake-gate

In tonight’s episode of Coronation Street, Todd couldn’t locate his car keys. Theo then produced them from his pocket, saying he found them down the side of the sofa and expects Todd to take more care in future.

Later, while Todd was showing her his new car, Sarah received a call from the school saying Harry wasn’t feeling well and asking if she could pick him up early. Todd offered to drive Sarah to the school and even treated Harry to a milkshake.

But Harry managed to spill the milkshake over the backseat of Todd’s car. Todd panicked about what Theo would say, but when Theo approached he was all smiles and joked about kids just being kids.

Sarah offered to pay to have the car professionally cleaned, but Theo did his best Al Pacino impression and told her to ‘forget about it.’

However, once home alone with Todd, Theo let rip at Todd for being careless and giving a lift to a boy with a milkshake and demanded Todd pay for it to be professionally cleaned.

Theo abused Todd

Todd Grimshaw called Theo from car after getting it cleaned, with Theo warning him again to take more care. As Todd insisted he would be more careful, he scraped the back of the car against some metal trollies. He quickly hung up on Theo before bemoaning his luck.

He immediately went to Kevin and begged him to fix it ASAP. Kevin said he’d do his best, but he later saw Theo in the pub and told him to tell Todd the car won’t be ready until tomorrow.

Theo returned home to Todd cooking dinner. Theo mentioned that he didn’t see Todd’s car outside. Todd said he moved it as kids were playing football near it.

Theo continued to make digs, first about Sarah taking advantage of Todd and then about the mash having too much butter in. He then returned to the subject of the car, complaining that they’d get a fine if Todd had moved it to a private carpark.

Finally, Theo made his point. He said: “Before I forget, I’ve got a message, from Kevin. He said the body shop’s chocka and you won’t be getting your car back until tomorrow.” Theo screamed that Todd was a liar before upending the table and referring to Todd as the ‘village idiot.’

Sarah arrived with a bottle of wine as a way of apology. Once again Theo was all sweetness and light, but once alone with Todd the darkness returned again.

Todd apologised for being an idiot and thought he was getting somewhere when Theo asked him to close his eyes. But unhinged Theo took a two-pint carton of milk and emptied it over Todd’s head. He then menacingly smiled and sat on the sofa eating his cereal.

More to come in Todd and Theo saga

Corrie producer Kate Brooks has warned that Theo and Todd’s relationship is set to be a slow burn story in the run up to Christmas, before it intensifies.

Kate also revealed that there will be a ‘powerful’ episode that will focus on Todd and Theo’s relationship.

After acknowledging the importance of a same sex coercive control storyline in soap, Kate shared: “We’ve got quite a bit of a journey to go on with these two, there’s going to be some really dark and quite important episodes which will be raw and authentic.

“There’s a really brilliant, powerful episode that will focus on primarily on their relationship that has never been done before. I don’t think anyone has told the story in this way.”

She continued: “This story will naturally progress and Todd will realise what is going on and that Theo’s behaviour is not acceptable. The story has been told before but not in this way, and it will keep audiences invested.”

What else happened in Coronation Street tonight?

Elsewhere in Coronation Street tonight, Carl plotted and finally landed a paying job with his sister Debbie.

Meanwhile, Jake appeared to be a big fan of Hope, but she was less than kind to her neighbour.

Here's a rundown of what happened in Corrie tonight.

Bernie tried to make amends with Dev

After staying the night with Gemma, Gemma asked if Bernie had called Dev, but Bernie said she needed to spend longer in the doghouse. Gemma tried to cheer her mum up by getting her involved in planning the quads' birthday party.

Later Bernie went to see Dev, but interrupted him on the phone to Aadi.

Aadi had seen the video and was angry that his dad hadn’t told him about Asha himself. Bernie continued to apologise, but will her and Dev be able to repair their relationship?

Carl got a job with Debbie

Carl helped Debbie pay an invoice that she had forgotten. She was worried as she said she usually always pays on time. Then Nick asked to book a table on Monday, Debbie said 'yes,' but Carl pointed out the whole place is booked out for a wedding.

Later, Debbie was convinced Abi was stealing a car and she followed her to Freshco car park, but when she approached the woman she believed was Abi, she was faced with a stranger.

Later Debbie admitted to Carl that she needs help and offered him a paying job, delighting Carl. He immediately tried to log into her computer, but to no avail.

Tyrone hated being pitied

Cassie took Tyrone and Fiz to lunch at the Bistro, but she immediately embarrassed Tyrone by shouting 'wheelchair coming through.'

She further annoyed Tyrone when she spoke to Fiz about him as if he wasn’t there. She then insisted on helping cut his food even when he said he was fine, causing the food to go flying everywhere.

To add to his woes, Tyrone had his ego damaged. Fiz had her bag stolen in the Bistro, but Ollie chased down the thief and was branded a hero. This caused Tyrone to feel useless.

Hope belittled Jake

Jakes overheard Hope talking about Sam and going trick or treating. He told her Sam is a 'simp' and that she should make him dress up as a pumpkin.

Hope jokes to Cassie that Jake is probably in love with her.

Later in the restaurant, Jake saw Hope again and this time she was more harsh to him, telling him he was freaking her out as he is always there. She warned him off and said nothing would happen as there is a three year age gap.
