He immediately assumed his girlfriend was completely innocent and being accused wrongly. And that was because – as he says in today’s episode – a similar thing happened to him a few years ago. Daniel thinks Megan is innocent (Credit: ITV) Daniel’s grooming horror Of course, Daniel’s not yet aware that Megan’s absolutely and horribly guilty of everything she’s been accused of. But he was right when he said he was innocent. Summer had a crush on Daniel (Credit: ITV) Daniel and Summer Daniel’s troubles began when he turned down the chance to give troubled teen Max Turner extra lessons. Later, he was asked to help Summer Spellman, too. Daniel didn’t want to agree but eventually he caved in and offered her the extra lessons she wanted.Don't miss a single story! Megan has been grooming Will (Credit: ITV) Daniel in trouble When David Platt – Max’s stepdad – found out, he was fuming and made a dig at Daniel, saying that he fancied Summer. David said that given Daniel’s history with Bethany – a much younger woman – he obviously had his eye on teenager Summer. When Max overheard David’s remarks, he jumped on them, because he hated Daniel. So as Daniel became friendlier with Summer, with her even babysitting little Bertie, Max was watching. He reported Daniel to the school and things got trickier for Daniel when Summer admitted to stepdad Paul that she and Daniel were closer than a normal student/teacher relationship. It was wishful thinking on Summer’s part, because she had a thumping great crush on Daniel. But with Paul’s history of abuse, he was horrified. He reported Daniel to the police and Daniel was hauled in for questioning. Of course Daniel was innocent, but his girlfriend Daisy was quick to point out he was at fault. After a chat with Summer, where the teenager confessed to her feelings, Daisy confronted Daniel. “You must have twigged that she had the mother of all crushes,” she said. “You invited her into your life, your home, letting her bond with your baby. Daniel, you blurred the lines.” So it’s no surprise that Daniel’s reacting badly now Megan’s been accused. Except, poor Daniel’s going to be forced to rethink their relationship when he realises Megan is guilty.
