Earlier, Bethany went to the salon for a birthday hair appointment with Maria, keen to mark her special day in style. She later admitted she didn’t have much planned, and was left mortified when it became clear her own mum had forgotten her birthday, with Gail’s card only arriving in the post. He urged the family to ease off her, pointing out she had only just suffered a head injury and was still recovering. Later, at a last-minute birthday meal arranged by Nick, the family gathered to celebrate Bethany. She opened her presents, including a last-minute gift from Sarah, although she seemed more pleased with Jodie’s offering. However, the atmosphere shifted sharply when Jodie brought up Theo’s murder.
