Features Theo Silverton Todd Grimshaw Share By Kerry Barrett Nov 29 2025 By Kerry Barrett Nov 29 2025 Our Coronation Street review this week is definitely lacking any festive joy. Christmas may be just around the corner but in Coronation Street there is no let-up from the unrelenting bleakness. It’s all been doom and gloom on the cobbles. Except for the tiny glimpse we got of Ryan in his cute jim-jams, which did bring brief relief from the misery. AND there was a little teaser for the Corriedale episode with another John Sugden poster in Weatherfield police station. But with Theo’s abuse stepping up, the end of our beloved Swarla, and Carl manipulating Abi, things were definitely not feeling festive. Here’s what we thought of the action in our Coronation Street review. Article Continues Below Read all the latest Spoilers John Sugden is on a poster in Weatherfield nick! (Credit: ITV) Todd was badly hurt This week, Theo’s abuse of his boyfriend Todd turned physical. The abusive scaffolder spent the early part of the week trying to encourage Todd to ditch Sarah as a friend – clearly trying to isolate poor Todd. And he was angry with Todd for talking to Billy, too. But it was towards the end of the week when things got really sinister. Theo was furious with Todd because James Bailey brought round some kit to help with his aching muscles. Of course, Todd’s muscles are aching because Theo is forcing him to over-exercise. But that didn’t stop Theo having a face like thunder as he watched James massage Todd’s legs. He glowered at Todd the whole time, and as soon as James left, things got really nasty. Todd was shocked and scared when Theo pushed his head into the mirror (Credit: ITV) Todd paid the price of Theo’s anger Theo had moved the mirror into the living room and he forced Todd to look at his reflection. Todd objected, telling Theo not to push him around, and Theo snapped. He shoved Todd’s head into the mirror, cutting him badly. Of course, he tried to downplay it at first, but when Todd’s wound was too severe, Theo transformed into a concerned partner. He took Todd to A&E and told him he’d look after him. For a moment, we thought Todd might tell the kind nurse who fixed his wound what had been going on. She was clearly suspicious about how his injury had happened. But he didn’t. Later, at home, Theo told Todd what had happened – his version, which made him very much the good guy. He said how upset he was to be accused of hurting Todd. And then he made Todd eat his dinner, even though it was cold. It was a hard watch, there’s no doubt about that. But we did see a little glimmer of hope, because it seems to us that Todd has suddenly realised that he is in an abusive relationship. What will he do about it? Carla ended things when Lisa prioritised Becky (Credit: ITV) Swarla are over and we are devastated But not actually that surprised. Because Becky seems very determined and very manipulative and now she’s back in the house, hanging the Christmas decorations and reminiscing about old times. We’re no longer sure if Becky is making everything up, who sent the funeral wreath or where it is, or frankly what’s going on. Did Becky beat up Costello? Did she arrange for him to be beaten up? We don’t really care. We just care that Carla and Lisa who are MADE FOR EACH OTHER are over and we are hoping for a reunion at Christmas. And we also really want Carla and Eva to be besties because their little conflab this week really worked. Carl is a nasty piece of work (Credit: ITV) Coronation Street review: Carl tormented Debbie Carl is busy getting his claws into Debbie’s business affairs even further and tricking her into thinking her dementia is more advanced than it actually is. This is a grim storyline. In many ways, Carl’s just as abusive as Theo. We’re hoping that it all comes to a head soon, because Carl needs to get his comeuppance sharpish. We have a whole tangle of emotions when it comes to this entire plotline. We hate Carl, obviously, but we feel a bit sad that a Webster has proved to be so awful. It feels a bit like throwing a legacy character away. We’re old enough to remember Carl’s dad, Bill, who made mistakes but who was a good man at heart. Just like Kevin and Debbie. Whereas Carl is properly evil. We also think Debbie’s dementia story is big enough and tragic enough by itself. We’re not sure it needs this extra complication. We’d like to see more of her managing her condition with the help of Ronnie, who’s barely been on screen at all recently. With December just a few days away, we’re really hoping next week’s Corrie is a bit cheerier!
