Today’s Coronation Street ITVX early release (Friday, January 16) stunned us all as a fan-favourite shared her plans to leave the cobbles.

Leanne Battersby arrived in Weatherfield in 1997 but she’s now looking for a change of scenery. And, she’s not just talking about a holiday.

In today’s episode of the ITV soap, Leanne shared her plans with Eva to leave the Street and start a new chapter of her life somewhere else.

Having booked her termination, Megan sat with Eva and Leanne for breakfast at Roy’s and tried to help Eva work out how to function her phone properly.

Eva then showed everyone a baby photo of Will that Ben had sent her. Apparently he always sends them to her but this is the first we’ve heard of it.

Megan then got a notification for an appointment pop up on her phone, and nosey Leanne couldn’t help but take a peek.

Later on, Eva and Leanne caught Megan crying outside. Confronting Megan about her pregnancy, Megan then admitted that she was pregnant but had booked a termination as she wasn’t ready to be a mum. Eva and Leanne then asked if the baby was Daniel’s. Megan said yes but knew that he didn’t want it.

Leanne then went with Megan to her termination appointment as Megan explained that this might be her last chance of having a baby as she was told she couldn’t have kids due to polycystic ovary syndrome.

Leanne reassured Megan that she once had a ‘miracle’ baby in Oliver and she might have one in the future too. If not, there were other options like IVF and adoption. With that, Megan decided to go ahead with the termination.

After thinking about Oliver, Leanne realised that she was feeling a little lonely. She didn’t want to spend the rest of her days dishing up curries to hungry people at Speed Daal.

She then told her sister that she’d decided that she needed to get away somewhere. A holiday? No. A permanent move. She needed to start afresh and see a bit of the world. And, to do that, she’d sell her share in Speed Daal.

Eva then came up with the idea of Leanne buying Maggie Driscoll out and running the Rovers with her.

This gave Leanne food for thought – running the pub with her sister would be ‘brilliant.’ But, will this idea put pause on the idea of escaping the rainy cobbles?
