Her last memorable one was when son Jude turned out to be a compulsive liar before leaving Weatherfield. Since then, Mary’s been a light-hearted and comical character but remains an icon in her own right. Recently on the Street, she was involved in Cassie’s plan to propose to Steve McDonald. She got to work at the florist’s, making up a flower display with the words ‘Marry me’ on them. However, this backfired when Mary was forced to cover the display back up when Cassie postponed the proposal. Steve’s dad Jim had passed away, with now not being the right time for the grand gesture. This didn’t stop Tracy from telling Mary off for helping Cassie with her proposal plans. Steve is Tracy’s ex after all.
