Today’s Coronation Street ITVX episode (Thursday, February 26) saw a three huge twists take place, including a death, an arrest, and an assault.

Bernie Winter-Alahan’s day didn’t go as planned as her marriage to Dev crumbled before her very eyes. And, then, just to add to the chaos, she was arrested on suspicion of Mal Roper’s attack.

These weren’t the only twists to take place today though as a shock death also rocked the cobbles.

Today, Dev continued having a go at Bernie for lying to him about her night in the hotel. She bit back, telling him that he shouldn’t be so passive aggressive with her.

Deciding that their marriage was beyond repair, Bernie packed a bag and told Dev that she’d complete her shift at Roy’s and then plan out her future without him.

However, she had no idea that Kit Green had just been given a very important case at work – to investigate the attack of a man who was now receiving critical care at the hospital.

This wasn’t any man. It was Mal Roper. And, before long, the police turned up at Roy’s and arrested Bernie right in front of Dev. They reckoned she could be responsible for his assault.

But, the whole thing came as a huge shock to Bernie who insisted that she had nothing to do with it. Was she telling the truth?

Coronation Street's Joan dead

Death rocks the cobbles

As well as all of this drama, the episode was also tainted with sadness as a character passed away suddenly.

George Shuttleworth had met up with his upset client Joan and had tried to patch things up after Christina’s ill-timed joke the previous day.

Joan then told George that while she didn’t rate Christina, she did respect George’s service and integrity. She was happy for him to bury her Dusty Springfield obsessed sister.

Hoping that his reputation was back in tact, George was looking forward to giving Joan’s sister the send off she deserved. However, he then turned to Joan and realised that she wasn’t moving…

Ringing for an ambulance, it was pretty clear that Joan was dead in a moment that will only fuel Annie’s case against the undertaker no doubt.
