During the service, Ethan shocks the congregation by confessing his love for Laurel. He admits to misleading Bishop Postlethwaite about Ashley and Laurel’s relationship to keep them apart. This revelation forces Ethan to leave the village in shame. Ashley, filled with regret for doubting Laurel, apologises. The Bishop grants permission for their marriage. Ashley then proposes to Laurel, reigniting their future plans. Wedding bells and clashes Laurel and Ashley’s engagement news spreads joy, but not everyone is pleased.
