Emmerdale Insider Managing Editor Carena Crawford sympathises with Sarah over her plight in Emmerdale. 

Poor Sarah has been through so much in her young life. She’s not even 20, yet has suffered more than one life-threatening illness. It’s no wonder she wants to live a normal life.

The teenager has spent more time in hospital than she’s had hot dinners and now wants something more for her life. Can you blame her for that?

She is young, lives in a quiet village where very little happens for someone of her age and has dated and dumped all the eligible guys! What else is there for her to do? Work in Cain’s garage for the rest of her life?!

A baby for Sarah in Emmerdale is not the most sensible move!

Of course, having a baby might not be the best move. She knows she might not live long enough to see he or she grow up. Which is why she’s reasoning if she has one now, it will be in its 20s by the time her life expectancy is up. Is it really that selfish?

When faced with the prospect of knowing when you’ll die, surely it’s only natural to want to live your life to the full. Sarah doesn’t want to waste any more time and you’ve got to applaud her for that.

While I don’t think having a baby at 19 without a partner and spending a fortune to do it is the most sensible option, and I do think someone needs to tell her about the practicalities of actually raising a child (although no one in Emmerdale seems to struggle that much!) I don’t think the act of wanting one is selfish.

But I do think she needs to be realistic about it all. And we know Charity will definitely provide that dose of realism when she finds out.
