In 52 years Emmerdale has seen thousands of romances blossom. However, only a select number have gone on to become great love stories. Here the Emmerdale Insider team reveal who their favourite couple of all time is.

Emmerdale greatest ever couple

Carena Crawford, Managing Editor

“I’m torn on this one, but I think it’s a toss up between Charity and Vanessa AKA Vanity, and Val and Eric Pollard. Charity wasn’t a character I particularly liked before, but when she hooked up with Vanessa she evolved, became more than just a scammer with her eyes on another con and we found a deeper layer to her. Such a shame the soap broke them up. Meanwhile, Val and Eric were perfect together and she is sorely missed from the soap.”

Tamzin Meyer, Assistant Editor

“Robron have to be my favourite Emmerdale couple ever. The whole Chrissie, Aaron and Robert love triangle was top tier drama and ended up leading to the huge helicopter crash that was one of the best stunts on the show. Aaron and Robert were clearly soulmates and loved my many fans and their little family with Liv included was so special to watch. Here’s hoping Robert returns and reunites with Aaron someday soon!”

Iconic Emmerdale pairings

“My favourite couple of all time is Seth and Betty. They had been teen sweethearts in the 1940s, and came back together as pensioners in the 1990s when Betty returned to Emmerdale. They never tied the knot but lived together happily for ten years until Seth’s death in 2005. Betty made sure Seth was buried in the woods – his favourite place – while under his headstone in the cemetery is a coffin filled with bags of sand. Now that’s true love!”

Laura Morgan, Freelance Soap Writer

“This might sound greedy, but I have two favourite Emmerdale couples. My first pick has to be Robron. Their love story was dysfunctional and dangerous, but utterly addictive. I was captivated right from that first kiss until their final break-up. And I’ve also got a soft spot for Cain and Moira. They’ve defied the odds and been married for 11 years, which is practically unheard of in Soapland. I hope they can weather storm Ruby when it hits.”
