Sarah’s surrogacy drama wasn’t the only, er, drama, happening in Emmerdale tonight!

Joe gave up his fortune

Well, some of it! It turned out Dr Crowley was behind Joe’s torment and had him paralysed in a makeshift hospital room. Crowley wanted more money or he would cut the kidney back out of Joe and feed it to Shaun’s dog. Nice.

Joe seemed genuinely terrified as he screamed for help and no one heard him.

Crowley told him to transfer the entire contents of his bank account or else and Joe eventually gave in. Shaun delivered Joe home, but is this the last we’ll see of Crowley? Or will he keep coming back for more? (Hint, we suspect the latter!)

Gabby was an idiot in Emmerdale tonight

After starving herself for weeks to fit into her engagement dress (tip: just buy a bigger size!), Gabby opted for a quadruple black coffee instead of breakfast. It came after Lewis advised her it was a natural laxative and the best way to lose those last few pounds.

But disaster struck as we now know when she was driving with Sarah in the car and fainted. At the hospital Gabby was told off for her diet as Laurel, Kim and Vinny came running to see her. But what was Vinny thinking after his little chat with Laurel earlier?

Vinny went all in after Laurel’s warning

Laurel revealed to Vinny she’d overheard him talking to Kammy. He panicked and began stuttering, but it turned out she’d only heard the stuff about Liv. Phew.

Or not so phew, because Laurel still thought that was big enough for him not to marry Gabby. Vinny tried to protest, but Laurel remained firm he mustn’t go through with it if he was unsure at all. He even started opening up to Kammy…

But when the call came from the hospital, Vinny put all doubts aside and pledged his love to Gabby forever and ever. Does he mean it though?

Also in Emmerdale tonight…

Tracy was fuming with Cain (when is she not?) for putting up posters about Nate’s memorial. Apparently it had confused Frankie. Well, if she’d just let Cain go to his own son’s funeral, they wouldn’t have this problem, would they?!

Lewis had a trial shift in the café and was very quickly a hit with fans – and Nicola.
