Chris, best-known to soap fans as evil Tony King in EastEnders, will play Kev. Very little is known about mysterious Kev – and neither show boss Laura Shaw, nor Chris himself, are giving much away! Kev will first be seen arriving in the village looking for directions. But of course there is more to it. So who is he actually looking for? And why is he in the village now? Emmerdale producer Laura gave a little more information – but not much! article continues below Read all the latest spoilers “We are delighted that someone of Chris’ calibre has joined our cast. I think the viewers will be intrigued to see how the character of Kev will cause shockwaves this autumn.” Intriguing! She continued to reveal he is connected to one of the characters already in the village, but his turning up will be a surprise to that character. “Kev has a strong connection to one of our characters and it’s safe to say his arrival is going to be a massive surprise that will have major repercussions for some of our villagers.” Tony King was arrested after his true nature was exposed (Credit: BBC) Who is Chris Coghill? Chris is a well-known face from both film and television. He has appeared in The Bay, Slow Horses and Shameless. But perhaps the role for which is best-known among soap fans is that of Tony King in EastEnders. Tony was Bianca Jackson’s boyfriend who had been having a relationship with her underage stepdaughter Whitney Dean. Whitney eventually revealed the affair and Bianca told her she was being abused and it wasn’t love. Tony went to prison where he took his own life. Of his new soap role, Chris said: “I am really happy to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. “Kev is definitely going to shake things up a bit and I’m looking forward to getting cracking!” Bradley Riches has impressed as Lewis (Credit: ITV) Other new arrivals in Emmerdale Chris joining the cast comes hot on the heels of other new characters. Bradley Riches started earlier this year as Lewis Barton and he is already a hit with fans. The Bill legend Jaye Griffiths is playing new farmer Celia. Although we haven’t seen much of her on-screen as yet, fans have been impressed with her so far, hailing her the new Kim Tate. Joe Absolom, also a former EastEnder, has recently joined the cast as Ray. He’s a drug dealer with a mean streak and next week we’ll see he is connected to April’s friend Dylan.
