But despite thinking she has him where she wants him, the cracks are there – and this peace won’t last forever. After dinner at Laurel’s went sour, Ray tried to stand up to his mum, but she shot him down. However, this Chrismas things may go differently… Ray and Laurel were trying to impress Celia (Credit: ITV) Celia destroyed Ray and Laurel’s relationship in Emmerdale Laurel invited Celia to dinner on Wednesday December 17 – despite Ray’s objections. Ray begged his mum to play nice but of course that word isn’t in her vocabulary! She started things off by asking Laurel bluntly: “Why do you like my son?” And things got worse from there. As Celia became painfully aware that Ray is serious about Laurel, she decided to take back control in her own way. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers When Ray went to the loo, Celia pounced and told Laurel Ray was a player. It instantly put Laurel off, who then asked Ray to leave. Realising his mum had said something, Ray stormed off home to confront her. Celia was non-too-complimentary about Laurel and Ray tried to stand up to her. But Celia immediately took the power back and made him remember who is really the boss: “You are weak Ray, you are so weak you need someone to tell you when to speak, how to feel, how to exist. You’re lucky I’m still here doing exactly that,” she belittled him. “Wipe your face before anyone sees you, they already pity you, let’s not confirm why.” Snivelling and humiliated Ray then lashed out and punched the wall in anger and upset. Ray won’t give up on Laurel, but what will Celia say? (Credit: ITV) Ray rebels this Christmas Celia makes Ray promise to end things with Laurel later this week and he agrees. But as Christmas approaches Bear can see Ray’s heartbreak. He encourages Ray to grab happiness and make the most of it while he can. It gets Ray thinking and he has another stab at winning Laurel over. He is thrilled when she agrees to meet him for lunch. Ray prepares a ‘fake’ Christmas lunch for her and she is once again smitten. As is he with her! Ray dares to hope they can spend the festive season together for real, but with Celia insisting they leave the village, is Ray going to get his wish? By New Year, Ray is dreaming of a fresh start for himself. But then he is given a terrible job to do. Can he go through with it? Or is this one step too far.
