As Aidan slips back into a coma and Aaron calls off the wedding, spoilers reveal huge relief for John as things turn on their head

The wedding drama continues
Rebecca Sayers

In Emmerdale tonight, John Sugden again got away with his crimes as Aidan fell back into a coma.

It’s all drama in the village as John and Aaron’s wedding day seems to be going from bad to worse. Last night (May 26) Cathleen appeared asking John to go to the hospital with her, and they had a clash.

In tonight’s episode (May 27), she and John headed to see Aidan. But when Aaron got the wrong end of the stick, he called off their wedding. But how far will John go to get him back?

What happened between John and Aidan tonight?

The episode again opened with another one of John’s nightmares. And tonight, it was Aidan Moore objecting to the ceremony (we finally heard his voice!).

When he arrived at the hospital, Aidan clearly was scared of John, and kept saying “no”. John sent Cathleen away so he and Aidan could have some alone time, and in doing so it became clear that Aidan remembers everything.

John was extremely cruel to his former beau, telling him he only ever wanted to prove how important he was to Aidan’s life. And that he saved him – but Aidan saw things differently.

While John was talking, Aidan slowly reached for the help button. But John was aware of the whole thing and grabbed it from him menacingly. That’s when he pulled out a syringe and his intentions became clear.

John made it known that he had thought of how to kill him, telling Aidan he wanted to do it in a painless way. But when Cathleen appeared at his house, he had to grab the closest thing to him.

He began to connect the syringe to the tubes, but right as he went to kill him, he realised he couldn’t actually go through with it. However, right at that moment, Aidan went into cardiac arrest.

By this point Aaron had arrived at the hospital, and was speaking to Cathleen. John appeared and told them that they managed to save Aidan – but he’s back in a coma (convenient for John!).

Aaron was fuming at his other-half for going there on their wedding day. And accused him of being in love with Aidan. Not wanting to be the other man, Aaron decided to call of the wedding.

Do Aaron and John get married in Emmerdale?

But spoilers show that things don’t stay negative for John in Emmerdale much longer.

John manages to track Aaron down and tells him that Aidan is his past.

Aaron remains silent until John has finished saying everything he has to say, so he can fully decide what he wants to do.

In the end, Aaron decides that he does want to be with John despite what had happened. So the pair agree the wedding is back on.

Together, they finally head to the venue, much to everyone’s relief.

But the big question is just how long will John’s secrets stay hidden? And will anything else stop them from saying ‘I do’?

What happened in Emmerdale tonight (Tues, May 27)

In Emmerdale tonight, Sarah received some devastating news, and Lewis got the upper-hand on Ross and Mack.

While most of the focus may have been on John and Aaron's big day, a lot of the other characters still had some serious stuff going on.

So, lets have a look at what else happened in Emmerdale tonight.

Sarah receives bad news

Sarah headed for her urgent appointment by herself, and she quickly realised she wasn't getting told any good news.

The doctor confirms that Sarah does have cervical cancer, and will be needing surgery to remove her cervix.

The news obviously shocks Sarah, but she is determined to still have a baby. It's confirmed that she will be able to keep her womb so in the future she may be able to go through IVF.

After her appointment, Sarah sits alone in the waiting room, and Jacob spots her there, instantly worried. She initially lies and tells him that her friend has an appointment, but he sees through it.

He gives her a hug, and when he does, she tells him she has cancer.

Ross and Mack were upstaged by Lewis

Ross kept calling Mack to get him to hurry up, and Lewis clearly didn't want to go kayaking.

But Lewis continued to play on his phone, clearly entertained by something.

Later, he asks Ross if Mack has gone to the wedding and Ross lies, telling him he had. But Lewis then shows Ross the video footage on his phone of Mack in his attic, stealing his weed.

It turns out, Lewis has known all day, and knows that Ross is involved too. And when Mack heads back up to the attic, Lewis manually locks the door, trapping him.

Clemmie and Joe bonded in Emmerdale tonight

Still upset that she has to live with Joe, Clemmie took herself off to the Dingles house and asked Sam if she could live there.

Sam lets her in but goes and gets Joe - much to Clemmie's annoyance.

Joe and Clemmie begin to speak and he tells her about his childhood and how his parents died. He apologises for what he said and did, promising that won't happen again. And he actually seemed quite genuine.

In the end, Clemmie agreed to go home with him. But he asked Sam if he could drop them off somewhere else first - where is he taking her?
