It was never going to be easy for Bear to deal with the trauma he’s been through at Ray’s hands. And now it has become clear Ray is still haunting him – quite literally. But will this be what drives Bear to his murder confession? Bear is hallucinating Ray (Credit: ITV) Ray ‘returned’ in Emmerdale tonight After keeping Bear and others captive for months, Ray was killed by an unknown assailant. Flashbacks later revealed it was Bear himself who had strangled Ray to death to stop him from hurting Paddy. But confused and traumatised, Bear doesn’t fully understand what he’s done. He keeps insisting he never meant to hurt Ray and he was his friend. He will not hear of Ray being evil or anything but kind and caring. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers So far Paddy has been keeping Bear locked in the house to protect his murder secret. But it has become very, very clear that Bear needs professional help. Tonight (Thursday February 12) Bear went to his first counselling session at Charles’ house. It was clear he was struggling to say anything at all as the therapist reassured him he could talk freely. As Bear seemed to spiral internally, voices spinning and a fixed look of fear on his face, Ray appeared over his shoulder. Creepy. Bear is questioned by DS Walsh over Ray’s death |(Credit: ITV) Bear confesses This sets up tomorrow’s special episode which sees Bear, April and Dylan rake over the past in a bid to move on and carve out a future. However, as Bear spirals in the counselling session we know this is leading to a confession. Next week he is charged with manslaughter over Ray’s death. He is interviewed by the police and insists he acted alone. But DS Walsh doesn’t believe him. His confusion makes her think there is more to this and she brings Paddy and Dylan in for questioning. But they stick to the story. Bear is eventually charged with manslaughter, but his solicitor is confident he can plead self-defence. However there’s a shock in store when Bear insists on pleading guilty as it’s the honorable thing to do. Can Paddy persuade him to fight this? Or is Bear still being haunted by Ray’s ghost telling him what to do and controlling his every move? How long will Ray stay with Bear for? Can he ever really be free?
