After attending her 20 week scan with Sarah and Jacob, you’d have thought Charity would be relieved to hear all was well. But she wasn’t. And could that be pointing to how the secret will be revealed? Charity is worried about the baby (Credit: ITV) Charity’s huge baby secret in Emmerdale Charity is hiding the fact she is carrying her own baby conceived after a one-night stand with Ross Barton. She is pretending it’s the baby of Sarah and Jacob who she is acting as a surrogate for. But it’s clear the pressure of the lies is really getting to her. Tonight, Vanessa noticed and grilled Charity on it. Vanessa has a feeling the baby is Charity and Mack’s – after Charity previously let her believe it was Mack she slept with. As Vanessa pressed, Charity admitted there is a chance the baby isn’t Sarah’s. She then quickly tried to backtrack. But Vanessa’s suspicions were roused and she’s not going to let this go. Meanwhile at the 20 week scan, Charity was very concerned about genetic diseases the baby might have. She asked for lots to be checked. But the sonographer assured her the baby is fine. Charity put it down to fears over it being a geriatric pregnancy and what happened to Chas with baby Grace, but we all know there’s more to it. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers The sonographer said as Sarah and Jacob had had their embryo screened they were more than sure all was well. Jacob then revealed he had had his own tests done to check he wasn’t a carrier of anything that could be passed on to the child. All of this would normally reassure an expectant mum to be. But as Charity’s baby wasn’t actually created from Jacob and Sarah’s embryo, this could be a problem. Now, we might be reading too much into this – but there was A LOT of talk about genetic testing tonight and how safe it made them all feel about the baby. So was it signposting that something will be wrong with the tot that would have been picked up during the testing? If the baby has some sort of genetic condition passed on from either Charity or Ross, it would definitely expose her secret in an explosive way. Was all this focus on tests a huge hint of how things will go down? We know that Charity’s baby secret is under threat this Christmas. And we also know pregnant Charity is involved in Corriedale.
