Bear Wolf Emmerdale Cast Share By Rebecca Sayers Feb 2 2026 By Rebecca Sayers Feb 2 2026 Emmerdale fans have been left wondering what the future for Bear could look like, as they fear the soap has actually “ruined” his character. Bear was missing for quite some time, after he and Paddy had a huge argument. But in reality, he was being used and manipulated by Ray and Celia, forced to work on their farm. When he eventually escaped, he arrived at Paddy’s house just in time to find Ray trying to kill him and Dylan. So, he did the only thing he could – he killed Ray. However, this decision has been met with a lot of divide from fans, as many fear the soap didn’t actually need to make him a killer. And while Paddy is determined to keep Bear out of prison, he is the only hope for Moira. But in tonight’s episode (February 2) Ruby heads to see him, wanting to tell him that they found Anya. However, things get quite emotional when Bear tries to defend Ray and Ruby refuses to accept that, telling him she hopes Ray suffered. Paddy quickly intervenes, sending Ruby away, but it’s clear Bear is really struggling. And now, fans actually don’t know where he can go on the soap. Taking to a Reddit thread, Emmerdale fans discussed the current Bear storyline. One kicked things off, writing: “They have ruined Bear’s character. He was introduced as some kind of Zak Dingle character. Strong and interesting. But what is his long-term future now?” Bear didn’t seem to be aware of what he’d done (Credit: ITV) Did Bear need to kill Ray? Fans are divided Another agreed: “I don’t like this side of Bear. He just isn’t funny or interesting enough anymore. They didn’t need to make him a killer.” “They could have done a great PTSD and recovery storyline for him instead of making him the one that killed Ray,” a third added. That being said, there were a few viewers who defended the storyline, and were happy with Bear’s character on Emmerdale. One penned: “I disagree that they have ruined him. If they do it well, the recovery from his ordeal could be meaningful. I hope they look into what it is to be stereotypically ‘masculine’ and yet still be manipulated and abused. It would be nice to see him bond with April and Dylan as they all recover together. “I think he has got a future on Emmerdale. Even if he gets found out for Ray’s death, there’s no way he will go to jail. Not just because the police know what he went through, but also because it’s SoapLand and people can get away with things.” Another agreed: “It’s not out of character for anyone to suffer from depression. It can happen to anyone. Plus he is an empty shell of a man right now because he has been through trauma that most probably couldn’t bear. He will be a long-term character for sure. But what he has gone through will change him forever.” So, while we don’t exactly know what Bear’s future on Emmerdale will look like, we can agree on one thing – we hope he finally heals from everything Ray and Celia put him through.
