A lot more. In fact, theories are coming in thick and fast over a secret identity and what she might be hiding. We won’t lie, we’re definitely on board with some of them, it could make things very interesting indeed… Dr Todd is winning many fans (Credit: ITV) Who is Dr Todd in Emmerdale? Dr Todd first began mentoring Jacob in January 2025 and it seemed she was a firm but fair type. She was tough on him, but also compassionate in hard situations such as when Leyla died on his shift. However, now Todd has returned that has all changed. She is clearly singling Jacob out. She is giving him a hard time and the strain of her attitude is causing him to struggle. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers She’s also put him on her mentor programme, which ups the pressure as it means double the amount of work and double the amount of time spent with her. To make matters even worse, Todd is friends with Manpreet and has now started popping up in the village, so Jacob can never get away from her. Jacob is finding Dr Todd hard work (Credit: ITV) 1. Is Dr Todd after Jacob sexually? Some viewers are sure they have spotted similarities between Todd and Maya Stepney – who groomed Jacob when he was just 15. “His boss is harder on him than on the other student,” commented one on social media. “I’m getting Maya vibes – he’s obviously older now, but to me he’s still young.” “Another Maya situation, in terms of Jacob going with much older women I mean,” added another. Related to Maya Lots of people think that she may not be after Jacob herself, but is in fact connected to Maya another way. “She could be related to Maya and is getting her revenge for her, probably her sister?” someone suggested. “Bet she’s Maya’s sister,” added another. The big boss? Human traffickers and drug dealers Ray Walters and Celia Daniels might be dead and buried, but some viewers are convinced there is still a ‘big boss’ to be exposed. And now they’re looking at Dr Todd. “I bet she’s the big boss of Ray and Celia,” commented several people on our Facebook thread. Another added: “I bet she is the secret one in the village [who is] head of Celia and Ray.” Another posed the idea that she is Ray’s biological mother. “I think she may have something to do with Ray, maybe his mother, coming back for revenge?” A further commenter referenced Todd’s love for fast cars and whiskey. “She likes expensive cars eh? Could the cars be the sign of drug money?” Could Mary do with a new romance? (Credit: ITV) 4. A new love for Mary? The suggestions of who Dr Todd really is weren’t all bad. In fact, some were quite positive that she’s set to put a spark back into the life of one Dales woman: Mary Goskirk. Mary’s had a rotten ride when it comes to love, previously having been scammed by Faye, a woman she met on a dating app. But could Dr Todd be just the medicine she needs to get back in the game? Jacob and Maya Stepney in Emmerdale: A history When Jacob in Emmerdale was 15 he became infatuated with his teacher Maya Stepney - who also happened to be his dad David Metcalfe's girlfriend. Jacob started dating Liv Flaherty who was really into him. But it was just as a cover to keep his feelings for Maya a secret. In reality, Maya was grooming Jacob. She convinced him that they were in love and that they were meant to be. Maya convinced Jacob they were in love (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock) Maya and Jacob found out in Emmerdale Maya resisted having sex with him, despite his desperate badgering. But when Jacob turned 16, the pair slept together for the first time. Liv walked in on them having sex and blackmailed them for £10,000. But eventually she decided against taking the money and instead decided to report Maya for what she was going to Jacob. However Maya threatened her into keeping quiet. Meanwhile Maya's relationship with David was in a state and when she caught him kissing his ex-wife Tracy, she called Jacob to meet her. They kissed, but it was witnessed by Priya, who told Leyla, Jacob's mum, and Tracy. Together, during the Big Night Out episodes, they forced Maya into a car. She insisted Jacob had sexually assaulted her, but they knew she was lying. After she got out of the car, they tracked to a shed and she admitted to having sex with him, but said it was consensual. Leyla chased after her and attacked her with a rock, believing she had killed her. But Maya had survived and run off to a hotel with Jacob. Maya was sent down (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock) Maya arrested and sent down Maya was finally arrested for abusing Jacob and broke things off with Jacob. But he refused to accept it. It took him a while to realise that their relationship was based on Maya's manipulation and he struggled to get over it. Maya was later jailed for exchanging inappropriate text messages with Jacob and sent down for 12 months. In November 2019 Maya was released from prison early and was revealed to be pregnant.
