Sarah Sugden was diagnosed with life-limiting condition Fanconi anemia in 2011. The complex medical condition means she’s at an increased risk of certain types of cancer. Sarah previously battled throat cancer and recent weeks have seen her diagnosed with cervical cancer. Her most recent health scare has seen fans demand Sarah’s dad Andy return to support his daughter during her ordeal. Charity has been supporting Sarah (Credit: ITV) Sarah’s health battles Earlier this year, Sarah Sugden decided she wanted to have a baby. Her life-shortening condition means she might not see any child she had grow up, so she made the decision to get started on the plan straightaway in order to give her a longer amount of time with said child. Her family were against the idea, telling her it would put too much stress on her body and reminding her that she didn’t know how many years she had left. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers Jacob, however, was more supportive of Sarah’s plan and agreed to be a sperm donor. But things didn’t go to plan for Sarah and during checks to see if she was a suitable candidate for IVF, it was discovered that she had cervical cancer. Sarah decided she’d have the operation and then continue with the IVF treatment. But fate dealt Sarah another blow when the operation wasn’t a success and an emergency hysterectomy had to be performed. While Sarah struggles with her health, neither her mum Debbie or dad Andy are anywhere to be seen. It was recently shared that Debbie had emigrated to Australia, while Andy has been away from the Dales since 2016 after going on the run from the police. Andy left in 2016 (Credit: ITV) Fans demand Andy return to Emmerdale to support Sarah Emmerdale viewers have branded the absence of Sarah’s parents “ridiculous”, believing it’s not realistic that neither of them would be there for their daughter during this hard time. One fan wrote on X “It’s ridiculous no Debbie or Andy for Sarah.” Another fan took to Reddit and said: “It’s about time Andy Sugden made a comeback. Sarah could really use her dad’s support.” A third fan added: “I would love to see Andy come back! When Sarah was a baby he was an involved dad so I could see him easily coming to support Sarah.” “Definitely, is so silly that he isn’t there,” agreed a fourth fan.
