The news is out – Nate’s dead, and Cain Dingle is facing the rap for his murder in this week’s Emmerdale. As the identity of the body in the lake was revealed yesterday (Thursday, June 5), Cain and Tracy were left reeling in shock.

As the police shared the news, they revealed that they were also looking for the perpetrator, as it was clear that Nate had been murdered. Guilty Cain quickly became the most obvious suspect, having beaten up Nate shortly before he ‘disappeared.’

Cain prime suspect in Nate murder investigation

We all know, of course, that it was really John who killed Nate – accidentally so, while trying to help with his injuries from the beating. But with John having covered his tracks, Cain’s now firmly in the frame.

Those suspicious of Cain include Tracy, who began to wonder whether her could have killed his son after seeing his reaction to the news. Figuring his guilt was down to the blood on his hands, she told Vanessa that she thinks Cain could have killed his son.

And, with the police asking some tough questions, the authorities might be inclined to agree. Will Cain go down for Nate’s murder?

Emmerdale fans leap to Cain Dingle’s defence amid murder allegations

Fans were quick to come to Cain’s defence as last night’s scenes aired. And, amid the police questioning and Tracy’s suspicions, viewers were eager to clear his name.

“Don’t let Cain go down for this! He messed up but he’s still a grieving father,” said one fan on X.

“Poor Cain. Please protect him. He didn’t kill Nate hate Tracy,” wrote another.

“Justice for Cain Dingle,” plead a third.

“Leave Cain alone,” said a fourth.

Can Cain prove his innocence… or will interfering John get there first?
