Robert made a grand entrance into John and Aaron’s wedding ceremony last night (Wednesday, May 28), and it was safe to say that the wedding guests were shocked. But, this evening, it appeared that their hatred for Robert had significantly grown without us even knowing over the last six years… He’s back! (Credit: ITV) Robert Sugden’s return to the Emmerdale village Just as Aaron and John were about to tie the knot, the registrar did the whole ‘speak now’ thing. That’s when Robert showed up, ready to do the whole ‘don’t say yes, run away now’ speech. The episode ended on the wedding guests all turning around with their jaws open, with Robert asking Aaron if he missed him. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers This evening’s instalment picked up where this left off, and almost nobody was pleased to see Mr Sugden back in the village. They all had their invisible pitchforks out ready to fight him out of their neighbourhood, branding him as ‘toxic.’ Surprisingly, everyone was Team John (if only they knew…), with Chas Dingle even catching Aaron and Robert kiss and telling him to get back to the venue and marry John immediately. Are they all forgetting that Robert was the true love (and still is, we hope) of Aaron’s life? He’s out of prison, guys, wake up (Credit: ITV) Fans confused over villagers’ reaction to return So it seems that everyone in the village is forgetting how good Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle were together. Actually, ‘they weren’t just good, they were the best.’ With the villagers conveniently forgetting all that Robert helped Aaron with, fans are rightly confused by their reaction. One fan on Reddit wrote: “It’s insane. “I get he hurt Aaron but come on seriously. “Robert is the person that made him talk about Gordon, the man his saved his life over and over. He wasn’t in prison because of some silly stuff, he was defending his sister.” Another fan responded: “And everyone in the pub called their relationship toxic and said that they’re on team John like… no, what the [bleep] is wrong with to you all?? Robert made Aaron happy! “I just know that if Liv was still there then she would make everyone see reason.” A third person added: “It feels so forced. Like the writers are trying to create this rift between Robert and everyone else so that Aaron feels even more conflicted about his feelings. It just doesn’t work though because we remember how happy Robert and Aaron were together.
